Part of leading by example figures to be coming into camp in better shape. Mincey said he came into last year weighing 300 pounds. He’s down to 280 now, and hopes to play around 265.
“As you noticed last year I started getting a lot better after six, seven games because I was shedding so much weight,” Mincey said. “This season I’m going to start in front of the eight ball instead of behind it.”

Good to hear it. He's a good one.

Yeah, so good that we brought in a guy and are still looking to draft a guy. Plus we have another guy who was a rookie and will be playing in front of him as well. Potentially getting knocked from starter to rotational backup I guess would do that.

And I thought he said he was down to 265 last year? More smoke I guess.

You need a rotation in this defense, and he is a solid piece of that.

Love this guy. Way to set an example and strive to get better. And keeping your weight down is easier said than done at his age. It's a piece of cake (figuratively) for these young guys.

Uh, he better make sure he doesn't get pushed around at 265. It's not like, all of a sudden, at age 31, going to turn into an explosive edge rusher.

I thought Mincey played at around 280 last year because the plan was for him to rush from the DT position on passing downs. Now that Tyrone Crawford is there I guess Mincey can slim down and get a little quicker.

Any word on how Ben Gardner is doing...

Bryan: Whaley was a guy that they had a plan for when they signed him. He was an extremely productive player while at Texas, so the hope that he can carry that over to his NFL career. I think there is a better chance for Whaley over Okoye, but let’s not also forget the help that they might receive from Ben Gardner as well. Gardner has been in the weight room all season and I am hearing more positive news on him than any of the other players that missed the season.

Crawford was good but didnt stand out like mincey but he is going to be a good one. Thats why I want a dt tonight to put next to crawford. Sure up the middle.

Crawford was dominant at times, inconsistent... but he's by far our best Dlineman
