Teams are so fragile with limited depth that our current scenario will likely increase the chances of even more injuries. The offense is likely to have a lower time of possession which means more time for the D on the field and the D-line rotation is short handed so thats gonna force the remaining players to play more. More plays for fewer players will not only cause their performance to suffer but the chances of injury goes up as well.

Its really friggin aggravating.

Ryan won't have all day. Mincey really hasn't made much impact this season. Other than nearly costing us against the Giants with his numb skull penalty.

The other DE's will be more gassed without him in the rotation - especially with captain 3-and-out at the helm.

No they won't because the depth is still there. The Cowboys will start Crawford at defensive end, but they can activate Ryan Russell, Ken Bishop, and Kyle Wilber has the ability to play defensive end as well. A lot of these players on the line have the ability to play multiple positions so we can still keep a rotation going.

Why is beating Atlanta and a New Orleans team possibly playing without Drew Brees improbable? The Saints looked awful even with Brees healthy. Atlanta is 2-0, but they aren't exactly setting the world on fire.

I think that's more probable than improbable, myself.

I said improbably b/c I was thinking of the probability of beating both teams, and not just each of them. That ATL game is basically a toss-up in my mind. I do think we're favorites to beat the Saints right now. But the point's the same. It seems like we're having to overcome a lot early here, but we are still winning, we do get a bit of a schedule break the next two weeks, and then we start getting some really good players back each week after that. Instead of doom and gloom we're still somehow looking ok.

Interesting. Wonder is they consider signing to PS and elevating him a game or so to play DE.

We'd have to, right? See how Russel does this week, since he's going to get some snaps it looks like one way or another with Mincey out.

Well I think a lot of credit has to go to Jason Garrett. Let's be honest most teams that lose their top two players fold. Then you add in some of the key cogs on defense, but that's why the Cowboys added a lot of depth in the offseason. In preparation for things like this. They deserve a lot of credit for that because we can talk about fighting all you want, but you have to have depth to be able to withstand. They've also done a good job finding these unheralded guys such as Coleman, Leary, Beasley, Hitchens, Jack Crawford and of course Romo is one of the best undrafted free agents of all time. That's what the good organizations do. Garrett is great though because he doesn't let these guys hang their heads. He preaches next man up, doing your job, being ready for opportunities and then embracing them, and if this team is able to hold it together and make the postseason despite all these injuries than Garrett should be coach of the year hands down.

I agree with all this. If we weather this storm, the team's going to start getting better and better at some point as these stars all start coming back. Just the idea that we could legitimately be 4-1 at the bye with all of these injuries and suspensions says a lot about the staff and the depth on the roster.

It would seem like we should be doom and gloom . But I am not.... Not yet.

until Weeden throws 3 pickles and we get blown out by the Falcons, then we drop one to the Saints and Cassell doesnt look all that great and just one W in 7 games would seem like a miracle......

then I will start to lose it a little.....

yes, there is a good chance we weather the storm. But without a QB, a WR, both OL and DL getting banged up, who is to say we dont lose the next 7....... who is to say we arent 2 and 7 or 3 and 6 when Romo returns??

Last year was our year. We were relatively healthy all year and were peaking at the right time until Blandino struck.
