I am not convinced they want a QB that badly. When is the last time you saw a defensive minded new head coach go QB in their first draft?

I guess it depends on how in love with the remaining QBs you are. I think Zimmer knows he has no shot unless he has a franchise QB. Maybe he waits and goes to get Mariotta next year *shrug*

I think they are looking at this draft and two things are popping out. One, they are not going to see one of the top QBs at 8 and two, this is a draft where you could go all the way through the 1st round and into the 2nd and still get players with 1st round grades.

1 that realizes he won't have a job for very long without a decent QB. How many years does the average coach get without winning anything? Like 3 years and the owner moves on in most cases? Zimmer can't afford to wait it out, especially with Adrian Peterson's prime just wasting away.

The Vikings are absolutely going QB in round 1. Their GM has been quoted multiple times saying that finding a new QB is priority #1.

It's the perfect time to do it. You don't want to draft a QB for the next coach. You might as well get him in your first year so you have time to develop him.

I ran the Vikings in our mock draft. This is a move I made. They absolutely have to get their QB situation settled.
