1:49 pm Like they have all year, the Vikings will pump in crowd noise during practice the next three days. According to coach Brad Childress, they have to prepare the defense so they are able to communicate while Dallas is on offense.

12:41 pm The Vikings had the best record in the regular season against playoff teams at 4-1. The Cowboys went 3-2.

12:41 pm It's hard to quantify how important homefield advantage is for the Vikings because of the quality of the Cowboys compared to Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, the Giants, etc., but scoring first to engage the crowd couldn't hurt. The Vikings, though, have not scored in the first quarter in five of their past seven games.

12:39 pm During the regular season, the Vikings were the 3rd-best team in the NFL in red zone TD efficiency (62.3 percent) while the Cowboys were 14th-best (52.0 percent). Defensively, the Vikings were the 7th-best team at preventing TDs in the red zone; the Cowboys were the 10th-worst.

11:46 am According to footballoutsiders.com, the Vikings were the 10th-worst team at defending tight ends in the regular season. In other words, Dallas TE Jason Witten, who had 94 receptions, will be a matchup nightmare. In Witten's lone game against the Vikings in 2007 (same coaching staff), he had 10 catches for 86 yards.

11:44 am Sunday's game will mark the Vikings 26th playoff appearance and the team's 44th playoff game in franchise history. Only three teams, including the Cowboys (57), have played in more postseason games.

11:26 am The Vikings went 5-2 in the regular season against 3-4 looks, which is what Dallas uses, although LB DeMarcus Ware will have his hand on the ground plenty. A handful of coaches and players on Sunday said Dallas' defense most resembles Baltimore's. The Vikings scored 33 points in that game.
