It was obvious after rewatching and rehashing the final play that we weren’t prepared . There was no sense of urgency from some players to get back to line of scrimmage and or handing the ball to the referee.

There was enough time when Dak slid down with 8 seconds. But too much time was wasted . We’ve watched it several times now and no Cowboy was looking for an official to hand the ball to which is needed before the ball is snapped.

It still would have been a desperation throw perhaps to the endzone and the chance of succeeding is very low but it would have nice to see that sequence better executed.

The lack of preparation for that sequence is on the coaching . No players were looking to hand the ball to a ref. Almost like they hadn’t practiced it.

Play call was horrendous!2 shots to the end zone is how you play that unless the 40 million dollar man can’t reach the end zone from there. If McCarthy is responsible for that call, he should be gone.

Yet, according to MM, they practice it every Friday and Saturday, which begs the question: What is it that they were practicing exactly? If you practice something every week, it should be second nature and not lead to this kind of screw up.

The end result would have been the same.

We weren’t winning the game with 14 penalties.

The team wasn’t prepared for the opening series, which was much more meaningful.

The referee does not need to be handed the ball directly. They only need to touch it.

This is what I thought. As long as Dak didn't float around in the pocket too long there was a chance at 2 shots to the end zone. The only way what they did would have been sure to allow time for even one shot is if Dak had only run a shorter distance (5-6 yards maybe) and gone down immediately, but that 5-6 yards wouldn't matter much in a hail mary situation anyway.

the one thing I remember about Parcells, a story from a while back. we played a game at Giants, last two minutes hurry up drive and players worked like they have been there before. after the game they asked them about the drive that won the game and they said, we practice it.....we knew what to do...

so if you talk about it is one thing...but you have to practice it. as a group. its like a music band. they can all know the songs individually, but as a group, they would suck first time around.

and to your other point. there was no sense of urgency from the get go. not even in Dak. he had no fire. he looked frustrated and scared and played that way. he played like he didn't want to be there and the moment was too big for him.

The devil is always in the details for the Cowboys. I would have probably done 2 hail mary's but in theory that play should have worked.

But Dak ran for 17 yards instead of 8-10 and then they missed the step of accounting for the referee. It just is just a fitting ending to this season and the past 26 years. Little things like penalties are the small details they never get right. There is a reason for that. I expect it will continue moving forward.

Agreed, but its kind of the same issue. This team wasnt prepared to start the game, they weren't prepared to end the game. They weren't prepared after the fake punt, etc.

Most games this year we see that they weren't prepared. This team seemed to run on talent alone, and it caught up with them. I've defended this coaching staff most of the year, but after yesterday I cant be sad if Jerry blows it up.

Stupid play call. Unprepared for what they did call. All points to the coaches and dumb players.

Spot on! Undisciplined w/ no attention to detail.Wouldn’t have happened under Parcells or Belicheat. Those 2 would have drilled in those details over and over till they were blue in the face. That’s why they were/are great.
