Missed takeaways hurting Cowboys' defense
Todd Archer,

IRVING, Texas -- What made the Dallas Cowboys' defense better than expected last season was its ability to create turnovers.

Some of the Cowboys' deficiencies were masked by the offense’s ability to dominate the clock and the ability to take the ball away. The Cowboys had 31 takeaways in 2014, second in the NFL.

This season the Cowboys have created just three turnovers and they all came against the Philadelphia Eagles. The other three quarterbacks -- Eli Manning of the New York Giants, the Atlanta Falcons’ Matt Ryan and New Orleans Saints’ Drew Brees -- have combined for five interceptions this season.

But it’s not as if the Cowboys didn’t have chances...

Nothing is working for us this season, injuries, these drop interceptions right in the hands. Either we turn around our season after the bye or we get more bad news and get top 5 pick

There is a reason these guys aren't wide receivers.....

You don't have to be a wr caliber pass catcher to haul one in when it hits you right in the bread basket lol. You are right to an extent but some these drops have been lay ups.

It's not just ints, it's fumbled too
The one big difference on D is the turnovers
We have to get the to's to make this defense work
Hopefully our luck will turn and no one expects them to be wr's but we have to catch more than we drop

Absolutely. I think this issue more than anything is what is killing our chances to win without Romo. If you aren't going to score a lot on your own (and we won't with Weeden), you have to give the offense short field opportunities, and cut off the other team's opportunities in the red zone. We have to get better at taking the ball away.

This defense can't catch balls that hit them in the numbers, I just don't get it.

I agree last season Dallas did a great job of creating the turnovers this year not so much. Just hope they start coming in bunches
