We all know our biggest need has been MLB. Yesterday we checked the boxes off with a nickel do it all, and a pass rushing OLB.

Today we need to find our MLB. Outside of a Jordan Brooks trade.

Who will be there at 92 and in the 4th?

I’m guessing Orr out of TCU might possibly be there at 92, and look to someone like Jack Kelly in the 4th (one of my pet cats).

Who you got?

I’ve always been a ‘trade next year’s 3rd for Brooks’ kind of guy. Just an obvious move to make, imo.

Boundary CB with 92, for me; Malik Muhammad or the like.

Maybe take someone like York in the 4th if they’re there. We do need more than one LB.

Curious to see when the run at LB starts in day 2. Early, or mid rounds.

Remaining LBs that the Cowboys talked to per that thread.

Georgia LB CJ Allen
Oklahoma LB Kendal Daniels
LSU LB Harold Perkins
Texas Tech LB Jacob Rodriguez
Missouri LB Josiah Trotter
Texas A&M LB Scooby Williams
Arkansas LB Xavian Sorey
TCU LB Kaleb Elarms-Orr

Informal
Oregon LB Bryce Boettcher
Utah LB Lander Barton
Oklahoma LB Owen Heinecke* think he's staying in OU?
BYU LB Jack Kelly
Alabama LB Deontae Lawson

Texas LB Anthony Hill Jr.

Bold are the ones that should be round 2.

I'd assume Trotter could go before #92 as well.

IMO I think most on the Informal list should be there or day 3.

It’s happening early IMO. CJ and JRod most likely gone in the first 10 picks tonight.

Some may call me crazy, but I would move a 2027 2nd+ to move up to take J-Rod.

If we want a playmaker and a run stopper at Mike, I think he's the guy to pay a little bit extra for.

Edit. Drawing a blank on what picks we have for next year...

Golday or Trotter with a trade up. Elarms-Orr if no trade up. Lawson maybe as well.

I think J Rod will be out of reach.
I would consider packaging 92 with one or two of those 4ths to move up a little for Golday.

If by some miracle Jrod gets to the third round, I am trading up to get him without hesitation but that is not going to happen

Trotter is who I am hoping.

Hill, Allen. JRod will be gone in the first few picks tonight

Baring a trade up for CJ or JRod....I'm guessing they move the 3rd rounder to Miami for Brooks - which is perfectly fine by me.

Then in the 4th, they go CB/DT/OT/LB

Same here.

Either move up to secure a starting quality player, or stay put at 92, pick a different position, and send Miami a pick for Brooks. It's possible one of JRod, Allen, Hill, Golday, Trotter will be there at 92, but not likely. The value will likely be at CB, DL, even TE.

I don't think the wait and see approach is going to work this time.

3rd/4th

Elarms

Guessing they package 92 with 114 possibly next season 3rd to go up for anyone who falls to bottom of 2nd top of 3rd.
Otherwise they're trading something from next years capital for a stop gap again!

Your only hope here is teams aren't going to value LBs in the 2nd. There are likely 4 with 2nd round grades, so one of JRod, Allen, Hill or Golday could be there at the top of the 3rd. If you like them better than Brooks - you make the move up.

I'm all about setting the defensive future with this draft. Downs and Lawrence are excellent starts. If you have to use the 4ths you got to move up and get one - that to me is more valuable than what they'd likely be able to get in the 4th. You go get starters...you let depth and backups fall to you.

Based on reports from media scouts, there appear to be five linebackers likely to come off the board early on Day 2: Rodriguez, Allen, Golday, Hill, and Trotter. Given how quickly that group could be picked, it may require trading up to secure one, especially since it’s unclear whether the next tier of prospects would be ready to contribute right away.

I wouldn’t mind Oregon kid in 4th. If Rodriguez even sniffs back end of 2nd im trading up though

TCU LB Kaleb Elarms-Orr is someone at least per NFL.com has as a round 3 guy.
Good athletics, but the thing giving me pause is this sentence:
Elarms-Orr is a well-built linebacker with above-average athleticism but problematic instincts.

Feel like we are 0-5 on drafting these type of guys. Are they overblowing his instincts or is it bad?

Someone said Muhammad was a moron, and I've been out since then. Is there any truth to it?

Hope is one falls through the cracks or is in range to trade up for. You would think Allen, Rodriguez, Hill are taken in rd 2, but players like Trotter, Golday have a chance to be there in rd 3. Orr, Elliot are two to watch in rd 4.

Team doesn't seem too concerned, which suggests they have a trade in place or they like the depth at the position. In either case, makes sense to add multiple. Would love both Louis, Perkins who can be more chess type pieces.
