Today the Astros acquired Scott Kazmir from the A's for 2 prospects. Kazmir boasts a 2.38 ERA, 10th-best in the major leagues among qualified starting pitchers.

With Kuechel and Kazmir at the top of the rotation that's two pretty tough lefty's that teams are going to have to contend with.

It will be interesting to see what the Yankees do. They need another starter.

As for Houston, this is all about competing in the AL West. Scott Kazmir is 4-0 w/a 0.99 ERA in 5 starts vs the Angels, Mariners & Rangers this year. 35 of Astros' final 66 games are vs AL West teams.

My pipe is bigger than yours!

Yes it is! And whatever you're putting in it is some mind altering stuff.

You've been counting your chickens all season so far, but there's 2 long months ahead of you. This is the part of the season where the age factor begins to show. So far no health issues. Two months is a long long time with this old roster late in the season.

I feel for you becuz the crumble will be heart breaking.

Counting chickens? That would be you. Guaranteeing all this nonsense. "Winning division", "cream rising to the top"... Blah blah blah

Not counting chicken at all... The cream, like I said is the foam/head at the top of the nice yankee stadium beer.

No health issues? Really? Wrong! Do some research before you post mistakes like that.

Only one heart breaking... And it's already begin to break.... That heart rests south of New York.

Its not counting chickens to say that the team that won 96 games last year and won the division by 12 games would repeat with the same pitching staff and league leading defense. Or that getting back an all star catcher and 3B, along with a healthy Davis and Hardy would be any stretch to think they repeat. Nope its why almost every analyst that has played the game has said over the long haul the Orioles are the best team to win the division, or best suited to win it. And they still might do it but they arent helping themselves this month.

So far the Yankees are nothing more than PRETENDERS. The world is surprised and nobody is counting them as contenders. Maybe in 2 months if they dont come back to their mean, they'll have a shot. But right now nothing but PRETENDERS. So enjoy the ride before th wheels fall off.

LMAO at #28 thots.

Mets just punched their world series tickets with the acquisitions of Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe. :sarcasm:

So... Let me understand this... When every analyst that has played the game says that Jeter is a great player, iconic, one the greatest to play the position... One of the greatest yankees..... It doesn't count then? But when it's convenientfor you THEN it's true and it matters. Lol

If you listen, which I am sure you do not... The talk on most if the baseball broadcasts is the yankees are the team to beat in the AL EAST....soon those sentiments will turn to... The Yankees are the team be beat in the American League.

Enjoying the ride ... as the Yankees find their stride!

Yeah I laughed when I saw Kelly Johnson's name... remember him from his "successful" days with the Yankees.

I love the "no move" by the Yankees!

First place, winning most of their series. No panic. Just cruise.

Girardi - manager of the year
