MM and Dak contract?

This doesn't have anything to do with McCarthy. It's all about Dak and the Cowboys reaching an agreement.

Right but to some extent maybe Mike is in JJ and Stephen's ear going i've played against him he's good here and here but is lacking here, and we can over come these deficiencies maybe but not at 38+ million a year it will hamper the rest of the team.

Everyone has a theory and their only "evidence" is he hasn't signed yet, which is actually only evidence that he hasn't signed yet. It does nothing to give credence to any of these theories.

There are only 4 people who really know why they haven't reached an agreement.

Not a theory. Thought the question marks would make that clear.

Hmmmm!!??? If MM was sold on Dak, would he be signed?? Maybe MM would rather have him on a one year deal and have a chance to evaluate his skill set and their relationship......

I have said this before.

No head coach worth his salt would take a job without having input into the most important position on the team. McCarthy has to make the decision as to "which" QB he is going to tie his fortunes and future to.

Imagine if Prescott signed for 4 years. This would not allow McCarthy the opportunity to select his guy. This is the coach that didn't get along with Aaron Rodgers. So it's not out of the realm of possibility that during the hiring process he told the Jones's that he needed to coach one year with Prescott under the tag to make a determination on the future.

In the distant future we may find out that this is exactly how it went down.

Maybe they like Dak and want to sign him but the whole uncertainty of everything plus the fact that he isn't Mahomes but wants to be paid like him has them hesitant to give in to Dak's demands. Maybe it is just as simple as Dak's team not as of yet willing to meet somewhere in the middle and give a little on their demands.

He has talked to Dalton several times but has yet to reach out to Dak as far as I know. And Dak at the time before he signed his tag was not participating in MM virtual meetings.

I see some of this.

I think by agreement the offers to Dak so far are a measuring stick of how much Dak is their long term guy.

They are willing to play him this year, pay him his tag..

and wait and see.

This parallels the ultimatum they did with Garrett of not extending Garrett's contract.

Dak needs to perform now. No excuses and no delays.

I think McCarthy is behind this approach completely. He has no history with Dak, has no feel for their ability as HC coaching staff and QB playing under pressure.

This all has to be seen.

If Dak leads the team to another season not being a high seed in the playoffs..

Dak is done.

Jones has gone to huge expense to have an elite team and it needs to happen.

Now.

I had a terrible nightmare recently where, under Garrett, the Giants offense became the best in the league........and under MM we were still anemic check down charlie stuff. At a post game press conference, MM comes in, shrugs his shoulders and says "what did you expect?.....same QB, same problems.."

You don't know this..SJ is already on record saying he, mm, and wm have been in discussions w what's best for the organization
Jerry wright’s the check make no mistake about that

Exactly
My opinion is they just don’t want to give elite money. I get that even though I think we should sign Dak. I get a team being cautious on a big contract but I don’t see better options
I would hate to give an entire draft or two to draft a guy who may or may not work out
To me those picks are as valuable as cap space and the risk of signing Dak or trading a load of picks for a guy is fairly equal
But only a handful of people know the whole story
I’d love to know myself what is the real holdup and someday we probably will but not likely anytime soon

I think MM had to be ok with Dak before he signed his contract. This is really between Stephen doing contracts more responsibly and Todd wanting to reset the marking with his client. There were contract issues before MM in regards to getting an extention for Dak last year.

I said it once and I'll say it again. McCarthy does not make roster moves here when it comes to the level of guys like Dak. If McCarthy wasn't sold on Dak he would've went somewhere else.
