So the GM has a horrible off-season handcuffing his HC, but then when the head coach goes out and wins 12 games to repeat the previous year record, with a 1st place schedule and against a better division, the GM raises the bar? Is that what we are supposed to believe?

I liken it more to the new guy who has pelts on the wall is supposed to be better than the predecessor's 2014-2016 run. Garrett's 2015 without Romo was his clunker. McCarthys first yr of 2020 without Dak is his clunker. Other than that, they're the same thus far.
I think Jerry's batting avg. on HCs is about to go 0 for 2 myself.
But it's been an extremely unpredictable year so far so I'll wait to see how it pans out.
Whatever the case, this guy needs to do better proving he's a gameday difference maker this playoff game. Last year he was an absolute pathetic failure. That post game presser did him no favors and made my already somewhat negative opinion of his actual gameday contribution even more suspect.

A reminder of why MM was hired.....take the Cowboys deep into the post-season. Back-to-back 12-win seasons are impressive, but his bar, as Jerry put it is being viable in the playoffs.

His initial presser ( interesting read 3 years later )

Fat Mike is supposed to be better than Clappy, so winning wildcard games is nothing special.

So, if he can't even do the bare minimum, it's time to go.

McCarthy is a good coach.

It's not easy to get to the Super Bowl. But he has, and won.

Fans want a coach with 5 Super Bowls. There's only one coach with that resume, and he's been nothing without his QB.

So, McCarthy is about as good as it gets. And I say that also being a fan of Sean Payton.

He won a Super Bowl over a decade ago....and has a whole lot of playoff fail since then.

Injuries are not excuses. They're fact. Next man up is fan speak.
That is why you have to have depth, becasue injuries will happen. There is not a team in the league that has all of their starters from week 1. Guys are going to tear ACLs, guys are going to break bones, guys are going to tear ligaments, its just the nature of the sport.

Good teams realize this and plan accordingly by having good depth. Now if you dont want to spend the money or the draft picks to have good depth, dont compalin when you have to trot out practice squad players in a playoff game. You should have addressed this back in training camp.

Yah, cause NFL athletes grow on trees, right? THOUSANDS of 'em.

Plan accordingly? LOL!! More like roll the dice.

Do you think training camp lasts YEARS? Good God, man.

I think you are reading to far into what Jerry says,,,,,,,What Jerry is really talking about is...as long as you win enough to put butts in the seats and the money keeps rolling in...you have a job in Dallas.

Some may find it hard to believe but I'm a huge MM fan, he was hired to take this team to the next level, not necessarily the Super Bowl, but serious post-season success. Just me, I don't see him getting fired regardless of what happens Sunday, a second 12-win season has already bought him another year.

Except every team has injuries. We were relatively healthy last year and lost to SF. No excuses. Get it done.
Yah, EVERY team has injuries. Thanks for the update. Relatively healthy......explain that. Being vague looks silly. That defense could've been fully healthy yet still couldn't stop the run. Look it up, coach "get it done".

FACT.

Yep. We were relatively healthy before the SF game (eye roll):

https://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/20...francisco-49ers-2021-wild-card-injury-report/

And yep, you’re right. Our run D sucked then, and we STILL should have won the game— but 14 self inflicted penalties tend to make winning a LOT more difficult.

There were no excuses last year when we were healthy. And there are no excuses this year when we have a few guys dinged up.

This game will come down to what every football game comes down to: which team wants it more and plays better.
