which could set the sport back. people wonder why certain states still won't regulate mma. this a sport yet they wanna have a gang fight in the cage like a bunch of ghetto thugs.
I'd say the boring fights on that card set the sport back more. Mousasi has no take down defense at all. I've noticed a lot of overseas fighters don't either.
Aoki loses some of his grappling ability without his pants. He wasn't a top 5 lightweight before that fight IMO, and now he definitely isn't. Melendez is a solid fighter and had a good game plan.
And the Shields-Hendo fight was mostly Shields with the mount throwing weak punches while Hendo just covered up.
Honestly the post-fight brawl was the only interesting thing all night, and now the Shields-Mayhem fight is going to garner more interest. Let's face it. Any MMA newcomers after watching that card wouldn't be turned off by the brawl, but by the actual "fights."
