Gil Brandt the guy who had Emmitt Smith ranked as the number 10 RB of all time or some bs. No thanks. Landry was the real brains behind the operation anyway.

How do you have 20 consecutive winning seasons when it means that you draft in the bottom third every single one of those drafts.

Brandt's abilities never deteriorated. The available talent level did. Other teams caught up enough that their talent level was too much for the Cowboys to overcome with a few great moves, like taking Herschel Walker in the 5th round or Chad Hennings in a late round.

The Cowboys also could not withstand some truly devastating injuries. Mike Sherrard was a true talent that sufffered back to back broken legs.

Billy Cannon Jr. broke his neck his rookie season and it endes his career. Both were #1 picks.

Imagine receivers Mike Sherrard, Michael Irvin and Kelvin Martin.

Imagine a healthy Billy Cannon Jr. alongside Ken Norton Jr.

The difference between winning and losing can be a fine line so to be on the winning side for a full two decades commands the ultimate respect for all time.

Its good to see a peice of the old team is still out there doing his thing. I'll bet there have been times Jerry wishes he hadnt run all three of them off.

It also inteterests me that so many of the players selected by the old regime were major contributors in three Super Bowls, not to mention the players acquired in a trade involving a 5th round pick of Schram and Brandt.

Ken Norton, Nate Newton, Kevin Gogan, Bill Bates, Mark Tuinei, and Micharl Irvin were all future Pro Bowlers on the team before the JJ's took over.

Kelvn Martin, Jim Jeffcoat, and Mike Saxon were also major contributors.

It seems as though Brandt deserves a share of the credit for the creation of a dominant team. No doubt, they were going to take Troy Aikman before the takeovet. Who really knows what might have happened?
