Pat Kirwin was talking about him tonight on Sirius NFL Radio. He said that Willis would be a great pick. He is purportedly the second most athletic DE in this class. His numbers were pretty phenomenal.

I don't know that much about him as a player. I just know he was the Big 12 defensive player of the year so that should account for something.

I can see that. And it's funny because Barnett and Willis are polar opposites:

Barnett - Crazy college production but tested average at best in athletic drills. However, he looks fast and eats QB's alive on tape.

Willis - Average college production but sky high athleticism. However, he looks not real fast on video and gets a lot of "close but no cigar" pressure on QB's.

I do like Willis ok but not in round 1 though. I love Barnett and would jump for joy with him in the first.
I think being a long strider makes him appear slower.

He looks good to me. I think he just needs coaching on technique. The star players in college often don't get "coached up". The coaches often spend their time trying fix the weak spots.

I'm surprised he only weighs 255. He looks very solid.

On a side note, did anyone know that now retired LB Patrick Willis (6-1, 242) ran a 4.37 forty at his Pro Day?

my problem with Willis is that he went up against RTs in a weak conference and rarely ever beat them with quickness or bend which we saw in the Combine,he has the opposite problem of harris with meh tape and great combine.

It's like he says in the article, he's not the best at getting to the QB--but he's going to impact the QB in a lot of ways.

I forsee a Greg Ellis-like career for Willis. He's not exciting, but I think you get a good player--right now--with the attributes to get way better.

maybe. He seems like a hard worker and his coach loves him.people said the same thing bout Bosa and he was a major factor with his relentless pressure.
