I am thinking it's 100% CP call whether to add both free agents. Both players would cost little or nothing, which is why I think Jerry would care. Who knows, they may have potential conditional deals with a few......like let's wait until preseason or call me if you get a serious offer.

Best Remaining Free Agent at Every Position With 2026 NFL Minicamps Underway

From Stefon Diggs to Joey Bosa and everybody in between, there’s still a quality crop of free agents to be had on the open market.

Linebacker: Bobby Wagner

2025 team: Commanders

Wagner is one of the greatest linebackers of all-time. He’s been elected to 10 Pro Bowls, earned six first-team All-Pro nods, led the NFL in tackles three times, and helped the Seahawks win Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014.

Now, 12 years removed from hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, the 35-year-old is still on the market after spending 2024 and ’25 with the Commanders. Wagner still has more to give, having registered 162 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two interceptions last season, and he would be the perfect addition for a contender looking to bolster the middle of their defense with a cerebral veteran.

Cornerback: Kenny Moore II

2025 team: Colts

Moore has consistently been one of the NFL’s top nickel cornerbacks over his first nine seasons. Since joining the Colts in 2017, the former Division II star out of Valdosta State has logged 649 total tackles, registered 11.5 sacks and picked off opposing quarterbacks 21 times (four of which were returned for touchdowns).
Moore was released by Indianapolis last month after the two sides failed to find a trade partner. He’s now free to sign anywhere and, despite entering his age-31 season, still offers the experience and playmaking ability to earn a team signing for a 10th NFL campaign.

The best remaining we won't get unless there's an injury, but you'll then here WE LIKE OUR GUYS. Player will sign elsewhere and we will hear the cowboys made offers

leave it in the coaches hands. every fan sees a stat and thinks every player is better. We dont need better this year. we need chemistry, information and seeing where we land to see where we can go forward. Thats ok. If we win, great, if we dont, also good. at least this year there is a sense the coaches are allowed to do their jobs, lets see where it goes.

Wagner in Dallas in 2022 and 2023 under DQ while still with a lot left in the tank would have been optimal.

Now, I'd pass. Watched him play every week leaving in Washington, DC. He is not as good as he once was even 2 years ago. He's running on fumes. Granted, he is a HOFer who at his worst is still better than a great deal of players. But, everyone hits the wall eventually. I'd rather it not be in Dallas when he does.

We dont need better this year.
Wild statement....we absolutely need better this year. This defense should be improved of the 2025 disaster, but it's crazy to think this unit doesn't have room for improvement from established veteran players who played at a moderately high level as recent as a year ago.

If we win, great, if we dont, also good.
No....just no. A third consecutive losing season should not be tolerated. If the roster is good enough to contend then the coaching staff should be held accountable for wins and losses. If the roster isn't good enough then we should be adding talent when its available, and for it being June there are some decent players out there for the taking. Losing/rebuilding seasons are not a good thing....its even worse when you're doing it with a QB in his mid 30s.

It may not be the Cowboys/Jerry.....my guess is Wag's priority is a starting job. I'm not sure many teams will offer him that w/o losing their starter via injury. He may take his time waiting for something to open up. You are right, though, he played at a high level last season. I don't see meaningful snaps for him w/o compromising Winters and/or Overshown. That's just me....

Would be on brand for Dallas to sign Wagner on his last leg of his career.

Agree. He's a 'someone got injured in training camp, and we're desperate' signing.

Yeah I’d agree. He’s probably letting things play out to put himself in the best situation to play. If I’m the cowboys though I wouldn’t wait for someone else to have a role for him.

improvement where? what scheme? whats required? what do they want? do they want smar but a second slower, or 3 seconds faster but dumb?

define improvement? you cant just plug and play in sports, you need information and understanding of the players health and mentality, i ll give you a defense of Sean Lees all day every season, but they ll be on the side lines doing you no good.

Do you want an aging player holding back the younger guy? would that help? does that win you anything when your team has 30 years of rot?

Did you watch the games last year?

yes, did last year equate to this year? Did the Giants tell harbaugh? nahhh son, no need to do anything, we re automatically better? no, hes taking a whole team and hes gutting and putting in what he wants where he needs it, hes NOT signing every player just beause they are better in no where stat. You need the players that fit your scheme and can show up. How fast are fans to dump on a player that cant make the plays they need? do they still say "YEAH BUT HES GOT THIS STAT"!!!!

Improve in terms of talent. This entire notion of you need players that fit your specific scheme is such BS. Good players fit almost any scheme, and coaches that can’t adapt their scheme to fit different player styles/body types aren’t very good coaches to begin with. The we need a scheme fit over talent approach is how we ended up with taco over watt.

This defense isn’t filled with young prospects at 11 positions where you’re worried about guys getting blocked for the season. If anything let these young guys face some serious veteran competition and let the cream rise to the top.

You can get a Bobby Wagner on the field without issues. Neither Overshown nor winters is a true MLB….you really don’t have a true one on the roster.

Joey Bosa is a rotational player at this point in his career, but a very good one. You telling me he wouldn’t be a stronger roster spot to take than a Sam Williams? We that confident in the Liufau position change if a Rashawn Gary or EZ go down in camp this year?

This defense has some good players for sure, but this is still a ways away from the point where we shouldn’t be considering any possible upgrade we can find….and at all three levels IMO.
