The NFL is changing and has changed whether people in here want to believe it or not....

Teams NEED a more mobile QB playing QB rather than a statue.

Don't get me wrong....I don't mind Drew Bledsoe. However, there are more and more players in recent years that are in the NFL saying in essence that in "...today's NFL, you need a guy playing QB that can avoid the sack." Now, they aren't talking about QB's that are scramblers....ala Vick, etc., but they are talking about guys who can run when they HAVE to.

I like DB and he has had some good games for us. BUT, if we can't block for him, the chances of us losing jump to like 75%.

Defensive lines are getting quicker than they were just 5-7 years ago. Teams need more athletic guys on the line as opposed to 350 pounders that just maul the guy in front of them....todays D-linemen are so athletic that they can evade the o-lineman on a running play....or make it so that the o-lineman doesn't have a very good angle on them so that they can make the tackle.

What does this mean for the QB in today's NFL? It means that teams are going to have to at least get a guy that CAN avoid a sack.

I think today was evidence enough that DB cannot evade a sack at all....not even if he planned on it.

The NFL hasn't stayed the same from the 60's....and it's just accelerating in it's changes from just 5-7 years ago.

I dont care what kind we have, as long as he is a difference maker.

I wish we would do some research and see why guys like Vermeil seems to be so successful in putting good OLs together.

We missed out on trying to get Gregg Williams and the OL Coach that left Denver to coach for the Falcons. I have no idea why we never made any attempt to hire these guys.

Michael Vick would have gotten sacked 7 times the way the offensive line played and the coaching staff's unwillingness to at least try Shotgun.

Mobility is overrated, Manning looked like crap today because his pocket was collapsed all day. Brady looked unstoppable last year because he could sit in the pocket forever and find an open target. What teams need is balance and the ability to make big plays. Dallas has neither, they cant run and they only have one WR that can make big plays.

Movement within the pocket is necessary. Anything other than being able to sidestep a blitz, ocassionally roll out to make a throw, or to step up to avoid a collapsing pocket, I feel, is unnecessary.

I don't think you need a running QB. Running QB's are overrated, but it would certainly help to have a QB who could move within the pocket. Bledsoe has a terrible pocket presence and that certainly hurts the offense. A guy like Brady might not be able to run, but he has great mobility within the pocket and knows exactly when to get rid of the ball. You think it's a coincidence how the sacks went way down after in NE after Bledsoe left.

Personally, I think Bledsoe has shown more mobility the last couple games than he's showed all year. The problem he's had is that as he moves around, the DEs have gotten so much penetration on the tackles that if he takes a step in any direction, he moves right into them.

The one-armed sack by Daniels on Tucker truly took the cake for me today. It's like c'mon Tuck, u can do better than that...

I agree completely.

Bledsoe needs everyone around him to perform in order to succeed. Really, all we need is a little pocket presence; the QB doesn't have to be an olympic sprinter or anything, he just needs to be able to move around and make something happen.

Which is what you see out of most QB's in the NFL. Bledsoe's time has passed
