1. Ramsey - I think he is clearly the target and if he's there, he will be a Cowboy. He could go higher and maybe even no 1. If he is gone a trade back would be the no 2 option and Myles Jack would be the fall back plan if they can't find a trade partner. All of the quarterback talk and Zeke talk is a total waste of time. DE is clearly a position of need and if Ramsey is gone and they trade back DE could end up being the position addressed in the first.

2. William Jackson III - I like this player a lot and if Dallas does not sign a CB like Hayward or Carroll he could be the target in the 2nd. I know using the no 1 and no 2 picks in the draft on secondary is a lot of resources but what a gift it would be to have a young talented secondary that could grow together. The secondary could go from a depressing group of underachievers to a huge bright spot similar to what we have seen the offensive line transform into.

3. Charles Tapper DE - This is the hardest pick for me. At this spot there are a lot of attractive options at positions of need. Running backs, receivers, Defensive tackles, linebackers and others but ultimately I think DE is a glaring hole and Tapper is moving up the boards. He is currently my pick for the 3rd rd.

4. Paul Perkins RB - Out of all of the top RB's available in this draft Perkins is the one we hear the least about. I don't get it. This guy is good. If he is there in the 4th we could end up landing a very talented RB that could end up having a great career. I would be thrilled if he is the 4th rd pick.

4 comp. Erik Striker LB - This is another tough pick for me. There is a large gap between our 4th comp pick and our 6th rd picks. A lot of good prospects will go off the board between this pick and our next. Grabbing a WR is tempting as is a DT. Ultimately I decided on a LB. I like Striker quite a bit and think he could end up playing significant time as a rookie which is about all you could hope for from what is essentially a 5th rd pick.

To conclude

Ramsey
Jackson III
Tapper
Perkins
Striker

would be one hell of a draft. In the 6th I would grab a developmental WR, A Dunbar replacement, A DT, and maybe a Guard/Center project. It is a great draft for DT's and I wanted one but with the addition of Cedric Thorton and the other needs I had to pass until the 6th rd. The same go's for WR. I wanted one but had to address other needs. Maybe next year we could go WR and DT with 1 and 2.

Last year, while depressing, showed me that our Defense is not terrible against average NFL teams. Against the better ones (NE/CAR), yes, we were dominated. But what stood out to me was the play of our WRs when Dez was out. We don't have one on the roster that even commands the sniff of a double team. Hence our offense couldn't do anything. Either in FA or the Draft, we need to get a WR1B that can open up the field if Dez goes down again and is even better when Dez is in there. No one after Dez is very good other than Beasely in the slot.

Not a huge fan of Perkins, but for a 4th, I can live with it. I don't like Striker, a waste of a 4th. There are so many other prospects out there who we can target.

I am cool with your first 2 picks. I do not know anything about Tapper, so I cannot critique the pick.

I really like Jackson but I don't expect him to be there and I don't expect there is any way this team who can't rush the passer is going to spend its top pick last year and it's top two picks this year on db's

I am not sure I buy that. Our D was average at best. People keep referring to how few point the D gave up. But the other teams realize they don't need to take ANY chances against us since we have ZERO offense. They play close to the vest and field position. The D really showed how bad it is when playing against top competition. Also notion that our WRs were all bad isn't true. We were decimated due to injuries. In addition, I blame back up QB play the most and poor coaching right after that. Even Moore produced better results than Weeden and Cassel.

One more thing. We lost our identity. We were inconsistent at running the ball especially at beginning of the year. We should have pick up Miller and use our draft picks on D. If we can demonstrate dominance at run then pass opens up. Unfortunately our FO believe that anyone can run behind this OL. It's only partly true. If you have a dynamic runner to go with this OL then you strike FEAR. That's another ball game for the opposition.

I wish I know the rating on Deforest DE from Oregon.
But you may be right regards Elliott but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be
great for the whole team.
