This is my sigh of relief draft, which means that it's probably less likely to happen than the "maddenish" draft in which I picked Ezekial Ansah and Alec Ogletree in the first (you guys didn't like that one too much).Thank you for viewing.
(18) - Jonathon Cooper OG/C, UNC - Let the celebration drinking commence! Though all of us may have other wants in the 1st, everyone can admit that this takes care of our largest need.
(47) - Terron Armstead OT, Arkansas Pine-Bluff - Our biggest weakness becomes our biggest strength for the future. An above average swing blocker and a possible blocking TE. This guy is a dream for Callahan's zone scheme.
(80) - D.J. Swearinger S, South Carolina - My admiration for him has dropped because of the long list of talented Safeties in this draft; but just to give a little insight on him, he is one of the few people I follow on Twitter and he is one straight minded young man by what he writes. If its not family oriented, its football. I like that and I think its a huge key in becoming a great player.
(111) - Le'veon Bell RB, MSU - I try to find another RB to fit in this spot, but I just enjoy the tape of Bell. Adding him would give us a great tandem at RB, with Dunbar as our speedster and Tanner as our insurance.
(144) - Phillip Steward LB, Houston - There seems to be many speedy LBs in this draft, capable of covering TEs. Recently a scouting report of Steward's pro day came on one of these threads, and after reading positive reviews, I decided to watch tape. watching the game against UCLA, he showed the ability to get thru traffic, cover exceptionally well, and was all over the field in tackles. I find him as a contributor possibly on Day 1, and a great addition for a team that has retained a whole bunch of 34 OLBs that will be converted to DE's.
(175) - Peter Lalich QB, California (PA) - Everybody likes a savant to call the plays. Could lightning strike twice in getting an overlooked QB? Hope so.
Trade Doug Free and a 2014 6th Round pick to ? for 2013 6th and 7th
(Thank you Doug Free) - David King DE/DT, Oklahoma - If their is no one else that Dallas gets in this Draft, I will be happy if they retain the rights to this young man. A pet cat if you will. I have mistakenly called him a "tweener" in the past; he is a player. His numbers weren't great, but he was in the mix all last year at both DE and DT. His pro day was really promising, coming in at 6'4 275lbs, 34 inch arms, 80 inch wingspan, 32 inch vertical jump, 9'7" broad jump, and a 4.72 40. On top of that, unlike Tyrone Crawford who looks to be forcing weight on himself, King looks like he can gain a few more. I see him as a Henry Melton type, and Marinelli can make him that.
(Thank you Doug Free) - Uzoma Nwachukwu WR, Texas A&M - Great insurance for Miles Austin. Can play the slot or #2. Best case scenario, Victor Cruz without the being a tool; worst case scenario, Kevin Ogletree, 10 catches a year.
