i kinda like that draft but not all of it, i dont want to take 2 safeties within the first 3 picks. Not too fond of mike wallace at wr, he is more of a straight line wr, we need a wr with speed true, but with moves and cutting ability.

i agree but those three 3 DBs sure are appealing for the top 3 picks but probably wont happen.

they might be appealing, but im afraid only one of them is a legit or will be an all pro player, i think the other players are marginal

so say if a sidbury or a duke robinson or herman johnson type player is there, id rather go after them with the first or second pick

what's going on with these mock drafts this year? they keep predicting us taking players who will not be available at pick #51.

i had to tune the drafttek priority quite a bit.

i didn't think a 3 prio for CB was legit at all. we have the first 3 on the depth chart pretty well set and also signed long term. hard to factor that as high as fs where we have a 1 year stop gap signed or at olb where we have 2 guys and a 3rd who may or may not be here for one more season.

mine ended up:

** I give detail as to the position they list these guys and then more info on some of the lesser known guys.

51. Louis Delmas
69. Andy Levitre
101. Antoine Caldwell
117. Morgan Trent CB Mich
156. Mike Wallace Slot WR
166. Phillip Hunt OLB 3-4
172. Richard Quinn TE UNC
197. Hunter Cantwell QB
208. Lee Robinson, ILB Alcorn State
210. Darryl Richard 3-4 DT Georgia Tech
227. Conredge Collins, FB Pitt

I am not in love with it but I do like the values of mnay of these guys and would be in that with Delmas, Caldwell, Wallace and Hunt at those spots.

While this is far from perfect I think it does have some idea of what other teams do factored in here.

they rate Delmas as the 45th best player and think he falls.
they rate Sean Smith the 44th best player and also think he falls.

if their rating is off that changes everything of course but they also plug in team needs. in my simulation they had zero safeties come off the board before delmas... BUT the friggin 3-4 DE's flew off the board:(

3 DBs in a row at the top is not feasible.

yea thats why i had to play with the prio they set. they had all 3 set at 3 and I don't buy that at all. i set cb to 5 and ss to 5 and fs to 2. though moving fs did nothing because even at 3 we pick the highest rated safety on the board and our best value, delmas.

Hey, if Delmas is there at #51 I would be very surprised. In fact, i saw a mock today with him going in the top 15--which is too high, but you get the picture.

I really think you want your top 3 picks to have a shot at starting in the very near term. granted, it often doesn't work out that way, but that is the goal. Picking 3 dbs as the top 3 would eliminate that possibility and , imo, reduce the ceiling of your draft impact. again, jmho.

Smith is a great value there but he isn't a CB in our scheme. He is a safety or STAR. Drafttek doesn't even rate him as a CB which is why it is odd they had him rated as one to us or have us drafting 3 safeties.

For some reason they see not a single team before us going with a safety. And that could be right. For a position like 3-4 OLB you better one early because the list runs dry quickly and about 5 teams have it a high priority.

I don't know man. it's just the mock drafts seem so unrealistic to me this year.

Those guys won't be there at 51..if we have any hope for those guys we will HAVE to trade up..too many teams in front of us picking twice before we do...Movin on up to pick 38-40 is more realistic.

Its always a bit tough because there will be 45 guys called 1st round values even though Dallas will have maybe 17 1st round grades on players.

Its like when Witten fell because he was a TE or Canty because he was coming off of injury plus was a 3-4 guy in college. OR Choice because he was small and not great track speed.

End of the day good players will fall and we just have to snap them up.

All that said I'd cry tears of joy to get Delmas at 51. I think he is THE perfect fit for us. At the same time the simulator makes it impossible for us to get a decent OLB without a massive reach and that means dealing with whiny Greg for another year at least.

it's more like 20-25 in a given year, 45 would be stretching it, esp. this year

last year I think Gosselin said teams had 1st round grades on 21 players

What I mean is there will be 45 called first round values by various sources. And 45 different guys all graded top 35 by various draftniks.

Not in reality.

If you do a mock draft and we say Delmas, Sean Smith and others will be gone by 51 I'd tend to agree but other guys then must fall.

So ultimately no mater which list we use at 51 there will be good players many of us like because it's almost certain there will not be runs on OLB, ILB, FS, OL and WR by pick 51.

Drafts are weird in how reactive teams can be. Like last year at WR. No one wanted one for a good while then bam, they were all gone it seemed.

Drafttek makes it seem like 3-4 OLB will be that way.

Until we get Goose's top 100 it will be hard to know what scouts are actually thinking of as a grade for each guy.

I would be happy as hell with that draft to be honest.
