IRVING, Texas – There’s an old adage that the letters “NFL” stand for “Not For Long,” and it can just as easily be applied to the world of mock drafts.

Two weeks ago when we checked in with various analyst’s opinions on what Dallas would do with its No. 27 pick, we had a pretty convincing consensus. An overwhelming majority of mockers selected a defensive tackle for the Cowboys, and four of 12 mock drafts had them taking Texas defensive tackle Malcom Brown.

Fast forward two weeks, and everything has changed. Of the 12 mock selections below, only two have the Cowboys taking a defensive tackle, and only one has stuck with previous selection of Brown.

Instead, it’s clear that everyone is trying to determine the best possible options. It’s common knowledge that Dallas needs defensive backs and pass-rushers, and there is obviously the enticing option of replacing DeMarco Murray with a running back.

All 12 mocks have the Cowboys selecting one of those three positions – but there’s very little agreement in the picks. Three of 12 publications have mocked Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon. Other than that, it’s anyone’s guess which way this goes.

I still really want Malcolm Brown, but I don't see it falling that way.

No Clear Consensus On 27th Pick As Draft Nears

How could there be at 27 in an average draft. Somebody gonna fall though.

Its almost impossible to predict a player at pick 27 in any draft, way too many variables. However, you can predict positions that will probably be available at pick 27 and this year that appears to be CB and RB.

Lucky, we need both so we should get an instant starter at 27.

I read that we may be considering Denarious (sp) Randall with our first round pick- I sure hope not.

For what it's worth he is one of the top 5 risers according to Mayock. Most feel he is the top cover safety in the draft.

If we think this is our year to win it all, we better get someone who can deal with Graham and the wr's of the giants/packers.

The best way to deal with them is to keep their QB on his backside. The front seven is the best way to defend those receivers.

Any mock draft that has Malcolm Brown falling to 27 loses instant credibility.

I see you post this in every thread, were not taking a Dlineman first be prepared for disappointment.

I never said they were drafting a defensive lineman in any thread. I am a BPA guy . The only player I have openly advocated for is Todd Gurley.
And there is no way in hell you do not know they won't select a defensive lineman.
Neither one of us can see the future and who will be left on the board at 27.

Anytime someone brings up the idea too draft a CB you shoot down the idea, my mistake I perceived it differently.
