I'd be a bit concerned about taking Styles and turning him into a DE/OLB. I mean, you might be right about him, plus he could be the OLB that drops into coverage when we rush four. I just think it's a projection that might not pan out.

If we did see him as an OLB, I'd probably go ILB at 39 if either Rodriguez or Allen were available. We've addressed safety/nickel (Thompson, Locke, Durant) much better than we have ILB, and relying on a third-round ILB to be the man is asking a bit much.

Not unhappy about this draft but I'm liken Bains even with the bad news.p

I'd rather trade Pickens for 6 and keep 12 & 20. And if we can get the option, I'd take either Reese, Bailey or Downs over SS or Bain.

Styles will be prolific at OLB in Parker’s D
I think Stukes will be that guy that changes the secondaries mentality

Is there a big difference between MLB in the 2nd and 3rd? A little but Stlyes and Stukes lift the team a different level

It's a projection to a position he hasn't played. Being an OLB in a 3-4 is much different than being a blitzing linebacker in a 4-3. Blitzing depends on a lot of surprise and mismatches. Speed is a great asset because if teams don't know you are coming and you have burst and speed, you can get through the line before they can adjust. Often, a blitzing linebacker also has to take on a tight end or running back instead of an offensive lineman.

As an OLB, the offense is expecting you to rush, so the offensive tackles (the linemen with the quickest feet and most length) are sitting back and engaging you as you try to get around them or punching you to stop your momentum if you can't block their hands). Technique is also important as speed. You need strong hands. You need cross chops. You need swim moves. You have to transition from speed to power and power to speed. All in order to keep them off balance and beat their blocks.

Maybe you know that Styles will be able to do all that. I don't. I do believe he has the makings of a very high-quality ILB, though, who can be a positive in both attacking the run and coverage while also providing some blitz potential. Like I said, it's an intriguing thought, but there's a whole lot of projection there.

This won’t happen for 6. Maybe 20 and Pickens. Compare with other receiver trades and points. I did a mock for that a month ago

Dak would flip out if they trade GP, he wants him here and so does CD. I would be very surprised if he is moved.

He’s 21. Fathers played football. Styles is still growing into his body. If you think he cannot come off the edge and develop quickly and be an even better player, I disagree strongly. He had one year at Safety and one year at MLB. When he blitzed and was incredibly effective from the edge

Did not say that he couldn't, but it is a projection. Parsons wasn't even projected to be an every-down pass rusher coming out of college because teams had not seen enough of it to say that he could be. Blitzing is different than going up against offensive tackles on every down. Parsons showed he can do it and maybe Styles would too. But I don't think it should be considered a given.

Sure. To your point, Parsons was smaller and that’s why they played him at MLB. The wear and tear on Parsons is evident - back injuries/knee ACL. 6’3 with 31.5 inch arms. What helps Styles is the 3-4 and being 6’5 with longer arms 33.7/8 and a 10 yard split at 1.56. Parsons 10 yard is 1.59

Styles is going to be an interesting player to watch as a pro; how he's deployed. I just hope we're not doing it in the NFC East unless he's with us.
