I saw this on a mock draft at footballsfuture.com and would like to see what the rest of you would do. This mock has Reggie Nelson, FS sitting there at 22 for us. The mock has us trading our 1st round choice to the Texans for a 2nd and a 6th in 2007 and their 1st in 2008. We pick up the following after the trade:

Aaron Ross- CB, Texas
Draft has us moving Anthony Henry to FS

Ben Grubbs-OG Auburn

3rd round
Wide receiver from East Carolina, I forgot the name, sorry.

I think that this is an excellent trade for the Boys and would do it without any hesitation. I do not think that Reggie nelson would even be there when the cowboys pick but who knows. Just wanted to know what the rest of my cowboys fans would do if it came down to this scenario.

i think they're on donkey drugs if they do the trade. we drop what, 14 spots, pick up that choice, and a 6th rounder, then their 1st in next years draft, likely to be a top 10? if they get bledsoe to start, a definate top 5?

they'd have monkey chitlens for brains if they did that.

Given the fact it is the Texans I would be more inclined to do this trade because the chance of getting a high #1 in 2008 (as in a top 5 pick) given the Texans track record. However this is just speculation and I expect that Dallas will make a pick with the 22nd choice. My hope would be Blalock from UT. The guy is very capable of playing both Guard and Tackle position

22 for what, 35/36 and the 6th rounder and then around 5-8 in the next draft? yea, i'd do it but they won't. it's easy to spend monolopy money but it won't happen in the real world.

anyone know the point value of this to help show how lopsided it at least seems to me now?

I also know that teams don't put the same value on future draft picks as ones this year. So, a high one next year is probably viewed like a 2nd this year.

I don't expect that trade to take place. I think you go into the draft planning on making your picks where your seeded. With the 22nd pick I would not expect to get any trade offers until we are on the clock or the pick before us.

well you just don't know till the sophomores come out next year as jr. and rewrite that chart. betting on weak vs. strong draft classes is just as much a risk as anything.

pick 22 is 780 pts.
pick 40 (no idea what houston is but let's say #8 in round 2 which is close) 500 points.

that's only 280 points to make up.

8 is worth 1400 points so we're 1100+ points up on the trade.

they'd never do it. mock draft trades are like madden - you can do stupid things for immediate gain cause you turn it off when done and start over. it's not real.

this would never happen.

agreed - if there's something that makes sense or no one jingles our bells, let's see what's available. *this* on the other hand is just madden-stupid.

I'm just saying what I've heard. With that chart, next year's picks do not hold the same value in the eyes of the teams.

I agree. It would never happen. I was just offering information. And if you control the mail, you control........information.

Normally the top 5 picks in mock drafts tend to be pretty accurate after that things tend change from what many publications have predicted.

I did not mean now but after the combines are over I think the top 5 is pretty much known.

Just because I'm an ECU alum, the WR from ECU is Aundrae Allison. If he's there in the 3rd, he could be a VERY good pick. He only played at ECU for 2 years and had the only 1000 yard season in school history his Jr. year. It's been rumored that he played not to get hurt this year after a knee injury last year.

The values on the trade aren't that far off on the chart. Favors us by about 200 points.

2 x #8 in the second round + #8 in round 6 - #22 in round 1.

I agree they probably would not do that, but they do happen to be whats known as being a stupid team quite frequently.

That may not be a good thing if true. Kind of paints him as a "me first" type of player. Go figure, a wide receiver who is "me first".

This trade would be greatly in our favor (a couple hundred points). It's a made-up fantasy trade that no team in their right mind would do in today's world. This reminds me of someone else here saying we could trade up with the Raiders (since Jerry is Al's buddy) and get Calvin Johnson. I'd love him, but it aint happening. You'd have better luck trading for Roy Williams or a star from another NFL team.

Yeah, I agree. Kind of why I said it "could" be a very good pick. Should have emphasized that word instead. It will be interesting to see what he can do on Sundays.
