round 1 pick 19: DE, Harold Landry
Many might not like this pick but you can never have too much talent on the edge. The uncertainty with DLAW and Irving makes this a solid choice. His 2016 tape was incredible and he's exactly what the cowboys want in a RE with speed, burst, and bend.
Round 2 pick 50: WR, James Washington
I believe Anthony Miller will be gone by 50 or else he's the pick here. But Washington is a strong body with strong hands and has shown improved ability in route running. He knows how to separate even without top end speed.
Round 3 pick 81: DT, BJ Hill
You could swap him with Tim settle but personally I prefer Hill. He would be a great addition to the rotation playing the 1-tech position in running downs. He's a big, powerful man with a great bull rush. More well rounded then settle in my opinion.
Round 4 pick 16: RB, John Kelly
He can run, pass block and catch out of the backfield. Not a big guy, but runs with conviction. Would spell Zeke for a series or two a game. Welcome addition to the RB room.
Round 4 pick 37: TE Chris Herndon
If it wasn't for his injury he would be a sure fire 2nd round pick. Known as a well rounded run blocker and pass catcher, he would be a good value pick in the fourth, injury and all.
Round 5 pick 34: LB Jack Cichy
Yes another injured player. Most would not like his but cmon its the 5th round. If he works out he's a stud LB with movement skills and great instincts. Most think Jewell is a Lee clone but I thinks cichy is closer.
Round 6 pick 18: SS Tray Matthews
Big hitter with great instincts. He need to learn ant more of the coverage aspect of a safety but I think in the 6th you take a damn good tackling safety.
Round 6 pick 19: G Sean Welsh
another Iowa offensive lineman drafted. Has a few kinks to work out in his technique, and doesn't have great playing power. But let him compete and learn from Paul Alexander. Would be a great depth piece.
Round 6 pick 34: DE Ade Aruna
Don't know if he's here after a solid combine. Good play speed and burst off the edge. A little
Raw and would need to add more
To his pass rush arsenal but it's a traits pick. Let his and Tapper battle it out.
Round 7 pick 18: QB Tanner Lee
Big armed kid with a lot to learn with his Mechanics. I'd love Oren Burks here but I doubt he makes it to the 7th. This is a little competitor for
Cooper Rush. Nothing more. Might as well have a traits QB.

I like Cichy from what I have read of him. If his injuries check out ok and he can get to playing where he was, then he would be a steal in the 5th

  1. Landry has star potential, imo.
  2. Mixed feelings on Washington, but don't hate him. Would depend on who's available
  3. Yes to BJ Hill
  4. I'd much prefer to not use the first 4th on a RB unless its a real steal
  5. Most of the remaining picks depend on who there. But good stuff
Thanks for posting

Yeah I get not using a 4 on a RB. Maybe a 5th on Darrell Williams or a 6th of Philip Lindsay would do instead.

We have problems on the left side of the offensive line that FA didn't address.
If your moving Collins to OG then you are assuming Fleming is the starting RT.
If your keeping Collins at RT then your are starting Martin at OG.
IMO neither of those FA's are starting quality players.
Welsh as you said is a good depth piece.
Thanks for your draft I liked many of your selections.

I like most of the players, but not sure they would like Landry after saying Watt wasn't a good fit.

Also, no first day starters at guard, linebacker or safety is a bit scary.

They would have to free up some CAP to bring in a few more veterans after the draft imo.

Understood. I think they are going to let it ride with Martin, looney at guard and jaylon at LB. don't necessarily agree with it but just what I think they do.

Yeah I gotcha. I would be highly upset with a Collins move to guard.

I would feel really good about this draft. Would still worry about LG though and I'm assuming we would bring in a vet LB like Bowman. Great job
