1st Rd, D.J. Fluker, OT--Cooper and Warmack (St. Louis) are gone--not the sexiest pick, but allows us to relieve ourselves of Doug Free and move on, while building a solid offensive line. I like this player. In the long run, this proves to be the right pick, he helps us in all facets of the offense. He's ready for the NFL

2nd Rd., Matt Elam, S--I think this guy could be the best safety in the draft. He's nasty, has instincts and can really lay the wood. Dallas could have its hands on another legendary safety here, and they wouldn't have to bet the farm to get him. I also think he's more NFL ready, and an overall better pick, than Vaccaro. Check out his highlight reel (it's the best of 2013). He'd compliment our team well and improve our secondary instantly. He fits Kiffin's D better than anyone. I think Kiffin has his say here as well.

3rd Rd., John Jenkins, DT--He falls because of Weight issues causes other teams concern, but Dallas takes him and whips him in shape. He'll make for a solid rotation with Hatcher and Ratliff.

4th Rd., Stepfan Taylor, RB--My "wishful pick". I'm really high on this runner for obvious reasons. He'd compliment our style and Murray well. Great pass blocker who could have a great NFL career and a long highlight reel.

5th Rd., Dion Sims, TE 5th--would help with depth if Witten went down. Strong blocker who runs solid routes. Has sticky hands

6th Rd., Sam Brenner OT--could play tackle, looks NFL ready. Only allowed 2 sacks in 25 games. Would help shore up our right side. Very versatile lineman, who's smart, works hard and has great "measurables" for a gaurd. Solid late pick. Dallas strikes again in the late rounds finding this gem.

7th Rd., Matt Stankiewitch C-solid pick, hard worker, solid in run and pass blocking. Team player with a huge upside at #7. Dallas takes a shot on a project. But with Costa and, imo, Arkin, they can afford to do that here.

Wouldn't hate it, but not my ideal draft either. And we don't have a 7th round pick.

Ah, that was my worst pick--maybe as a UDFA. I also listed Brenner as a tackle, but I'd want him at guard. What didn't you like about it?

I almost want to move Elam to round 1 and move Fluker down to round 2... we could also target another offensive linemen in round 2. My opinion is when you have a shot at a safety like Elam, you take it. These guys don't come around often. And we haven't had a game changer like this since woodson.

Vaccaro is Brock Marion. Elam is Woodson.

The Ravens, Niners, Colts and Steelers are all interested in Elam. He won't make it to round 2, and rightfully so.

Elam will not be there in the 2nd, unless Dallas trades up.

I agree that I could live with this draft, but I don't really like Fluker and I think we could do better at S than Elam.

Some are saying Fluker is rising fast and may go top 15.

I like Reid better than Elam.

Don't think Taylor makes it to the 4th round.

I think Jenkins is much too big for Kiffin's style of defense. He seems to like speed guys and Jenkins is not that.

Overall, some good players but some don't seem to fit what the Cowboys style of play would be.

Elam is by far the best safety in the draft. He has, by far, the best instincts, is the most aggressive and is the most prototype player I've seen at safety in a while. I'm so confident about this player. I haven't been this confident about a player in a long time. He's hands down better than Vaccaro, who is entirely overrated in my book.

I'm hoping we grab him, maybe in a trade down... I love this guy. People knocking on him are going to be surprised. He's just that good.

I don't think Elam will be there at 47, but some have him going in the 2nd round, which it's possible we trade up. I also think we could take him with our first.

Jenkins could be there at 80 because of weight issues, but we'll see.

not fan of that mock at all. Dallas can get OT on the cheap right now threw FA ...they need fairly dominant OG. Zero chance Elam is there in 2nd round. Jenkins has my biggest bust potential in this draft.

Fair enough... but I almost think we may take Elam in the 1st (I know that'd irk some people). The question is which OT can they get and will he be better than Free? FA is loaded with OGs....

And the bust potential is why I have Jenkins falling to the 3rd.

My most interesting pick was Sims, because I think he could be a legitimate redzone threat as well as help the running game.

Me too, but Woodson was really the best safety I ever watched. I like what Elam can do around the line, sniffing out the run and also making hits on players in the backfield and crossing the field. I think he fits the Tampa 2 better than any safety in the draft. I don't know why, but I'm really really high on this player and I want to draft him in the 1st round.

When you say things like "by far the best safety in the draft" and hardly anybody else agrees with you, you need to provide more evidence.

Number 1 he's a leader with intangibles and instincts that can provide us with a solid tackler and hard hitter. When I look at players, I look at how they'll match up against the Commanders and if we're going to stop the run. You have to stop the run in the NFL. We have that in Elam. Further, he's a guy we can play all over the field. People have the misconception that we'll play all cover 2 in Kiffin's defense. That's not correct. When you have a guy like Elam who can make plays in the backfield, it's like having another pass rusher, another linebacker and a pass defender. To me, stops are as good as sacks. And this guy makes a lot of stops behind the line. He can come up from playing deep and still make stops.

He's a leader. We don't have anyone on our team with a fire like Elam. Vaccaro certainly doesn't have it. And he's not a great tackler and can be suspect in coverage. At times, he takes himself out of the play. Look at the Tech game. Vaccaro may not even be NFL ready his first year. With Elam, all I see is instincts. He flies to the ball. His coverage skills are better than people proclaim.

Elam can play all over the field--you can even move him to the slot. I like him a lot because we can do the same things we did with Woodson and he's the type of guy you can build a defense around. He was the team captain at Florida. If you took all of Elam's highlights from all the games, he'd have a longer reel than Matt Johnson. That's saying something.

He comes from a football family. Yes, he's the brother of Abraham Elam, but he's a much more rounded player, imo. He's quick to the ball. He has good vision and sheds blocks like a linebacker. He's a much more versatile player than Vaccaro. I could settle for a guy like Thomas, who I also think is good in his own right (for our defense). But, to me, Elam is special. He has that fiery attitude that is infectious. He steps up for the big plays and his motor runs 200 MPH every single play. You won't get that with Vaccaro.

Lastly, he just fits the mold of what Kiffin likes. He has that quickness to the ball Kiffin likes and hits hard like Kiffin likes his safeties to do. He would bring fear back to our secondary. And we haven't had that in quite some time.
