i will just add this here with verdicts post. i know these guys that do the mocks as part of their jobs, not everyone likes. I don't follow college football so i count on others here that do. this one caught my attention only because it involves trading down slightly from 12.

would getting these 2 players plus a 4th and a 7th, be good? bad? ugly?

I don’t dislike the two players Dallas ends up with first round in this mock but the trade down with the Jets 4 spots 12 to 16 and all you get in return is a 4 & 7 . Not enough . I want a 3 and a 5 .

CJ Allen reminds me of Nakobe Dean . Dallas has to get more out of 12 when Styles & Downs are gone . Explore trade downs try to climb back into day 2 get someone else’s lower first rounder . Get your corner at 20.

Thienamen is rocketing up draft boards. He has jumped from around 38 on the concensus board to around #17. It looks like he may be gone by 20.

I would do that trade back, but would think we could get a 3rd instead of a 4th and 7th. If not, I take it anyway, and also look to trade back from 20, as far down as 28 or 30, pick up a 2nd and still double dip in the secondary. Terrell will be there, imo. If not, I take LB Jacob Rodriguez and the best DB available with our 2nd.

They just interviewed a few NFL execs about a mock and a few of them had Styled and Downs outside the top 10.

I an pretty confident a good defender will be available.

If not hopefully we take care it business in FA and can just take whatever offensive player that falls.

If Dallas ended up with Thieneman at safety and either Cisse or Terrell at CB later round one that’s not a bad haul . You’re remaking the secondary . I say go and get a healthy young vet at LB in FA Devin Bush and an affordable Edge like Boye Mafe you have 4 starters for the 26 defense .

I don't think a 4th and a 7th is going to help this team. I would not risk losing a player I liked to add a 4th and a 7th.

At what point would they consider losing 1 player high on their draft board over lower picks. Maybe if a 2nd round is in the mix.
Now if there are 2 players, even though one just a little ranked lower. And you feel you can select him, do the trade, but not for a 4th, has to be a 3rd.

If a LT falls to us, that is our best opportunity to trade down.

It so looking like Thieneman will be gone by pick 20 now. But there are some very good consolation prizes left in this draft at safety.

Agree . Don’t take a player you don’t want , collect more picks . This is a team that will need extra draft capital .

I’ve been doing several mock drafts (really never got into that until recently) and it seems like there is a pretty good chance that the top tier defenders will be gone by the time we pick at #12.

It also seems like the top secondary tier defenders are trending up —with Cowboys preferred type of players (need plus BPA) are going about a round earlier than they were just a few weeks ago.

Cowboys best strategy might be to see how many picks they can acquire between about pick 20 and pick 60. There really seems to be some great players available in that vicinity.

The Cowboys need to get than than a 4th and 7th to move down from #12 to #16.

The Cowboys got a 3rd for moving down from #10 to #12 in 2021.

Yeah, it's all speculation right now. But if Dallas does its usual, then no position will be ideally filled. They will just have fill-ins.

If the Cowboys do nothing the free agency, then the draft and new defensive coaching staff really won't matter for 2026.
- The new D-Coordinator will require more than a season IF they don't get some quality veteran players added to the defensive roster.

There's a good chance that the BPA at 12 will be an OT or WR.
