1. Charles Harris - DE - MIZZ

Harris offers upside at a major position of need.

2. Marcus Maye - S - FLA

Solid all-around safety from "DB U." He can make plays at the LOS and in coverage, playing FS or SS.

3. Tyquan Lewis - DE - OSU

Double dip at DE.

4. Johnny Caspers - OG - STAN

OG Depth.

Re-sign: Claiborne, T. Williams, Wilcox, Carr
Let walk: Leary, Church, McClain
Restructure: Dez
Free Agents: Starting MLB, OG Depth

Hmmm. not bad. would have liked to see a linebacker but not bad. Which McClain are you letting walk? Ro or Terrell because they both have expiring contracts.

I really want a LB myself. The problem is that the guys I really like are round 1-2 targets, and I just don't see the Cowboys doing that. They're much more confident in Jaylon's nerve than I am. I wouldn't mind Beckwith in the 3rd, but we seem to want more range from our LBs. I think he could do what McClain did for us, however.

I was referring to Ro. I see Terrell is an option if he's cheap, but don't think we'll miss him too much otherwise.

Terrell has been our best DT this year. He wont cost too much. If anything i wouldn't bring back Wilcox and trust in Frazier as back up just so i can keep Terrell McClain. And i just noticed. your going to get a backup OG in free agency and draft a OG in the 4th? A LB, TE, or even another WR would be better targets if we use free agency to sign depth for O line.

I'm not against bringing McClain back. But we've got a massive amount of money tied up in Crawford and the staff seems to like Collins. If he's cheap, that's great. If he's not, we can't afford to invest much more in the 3T spot than we already have.

I like the idea of continually adding youth to the OL spots. The pick is us doing that. Us bringing in a cheap vet is so that we don't have to rely on the rookie to start if somehting goes wrong. I'm not talking big money, just a 3rd guard that's much cheaper than what Leary will get on the market.

Crawford isn't big enough to play the 3tech and Collins is best when he can use his lighting quick first step to get past the guard. We need another 300+ pounder next to Collins to plug the run and take on blocks. Crawford was wasted money. He doesn't even want to play defensive tackle anymore. And decent back up guards can be had in the later rounds. quality interior linemen are not nearly as hard to find as quality offensive tackles.

If I had to choose between Wilcox or Church to bring back, it would be Church.

Not really a fan of any of these picks, Maye maybe. Harris is blocked too easily every time I try to watch him. Lewis is a tweener to me.

But you win the internet for this take alone....
Let walk: Church

I hear you on Harris. The problem is that I don't like Smoot or Lawson any better and Barnett will likely be long gone. I'd love to grab one of the LBs, but I just don't see the team doing that a year after taking Smith at 34. Hell, I'd love Latulelei even, but no chance the team is willing to invest so much in a 1T. As the FA DE class is weak, I do expect us to grab one early, and Harris is as good an option as any, IMO. He's not a complete player yet, but the upside is clearly there.

As for Maye, he's my favorite pick in this mock. I personally wouldn't be upset if we took him in the first. I think he's just as good as his former teammate Neal, who went in the top 20 last year, and is playing very well as a rookie. The Safety position is increasing valuable and I'd love a more complete safety to pair next to Jones.

What kind of tweener do you see Lewis as? LB/DE? I have to disagree with you there. I looks bigger than his listed 260 to me, and I don't have questions about his ability to be a 3 down player. Whether he's good enough to do that will be another question (and for any other DE in the 3rd round), but I think he's got the build and skill set to do it.

Who do you like in the 22-28 range?

In vacuum, me too. I just think that Church will demand more $ on the market. He'll be seen as a starter whereas Wilcox will be seen as depth. If we do decide to address the S spot in the draft, I'd prefer to take the cheaper option and spend that money elsewhere (Claiborne).

I agree with you on Crawford, but he's one of their guys, for better or worse. I just don't see the team not giving him every chance to get back to his 2014 level of play.

I'd be fine with them going OT in the draft as well, but think it's a weak class and we'd get less value because of it. I expect us to keep Free for another year, then draft an OT day 2 and let he and Green duke it our for the starting spot, with the other serving as swing depth.

Lawson will go top 15 and with how Smoot has been playing with year, he may be a 2nd round steal. the stats may not be their this year but he is very quick twitch, has great bend, and an array of pass rushing moves. Let hot rod get his hands on him. And look into Carlos Watkins out of Clemson. Like Maliek Collins last year being a DT made to play 3tech in Marinellis scheme, well Watkins was made to play 1tech in Marinellis scheme. due to that he may be had with our 3rd pick.

I'll check Watkins out for sure. Any other 1Ts you're looking at?

At the moment thats about it. I also really like Latulelei but i have a feeling he will be snatched up much sooner then i expect. Seems to be a handful of 3techs that would be nice get if we didnt get Collins last draft. Watkins is much hopeful get. Hes a run stuffer but he can collapse that pocket and get a ton of QB pressures allowing him to be a 3 down player in our defense.

What kind of tweener do you see Lewis as?
Tackle/End... Although he reminds me of guys this FO seems to like, like Jack Crawford and Charles Tapper.

Who do you like in the 22-28 range?
Obviously a lot will change between now and April, but right now I'm thinking....

Justin Evans, S, Texas A&M
Raekwon McMillan, LB, Ohio State
Zach Cunngingham, LB Vanderbilt
Sidney Jones, CB, Washington

...in that range. I love Quincy Wilson (CB Florida) but I feel he is flying up draft boards.

I love Wilson, but agree that he'll be gone. He's a stud and I could see him going top 5-8.

I like McMillan and Cunningham, but just don't see the team going LB so early. I know most will disagree, but I actually think Jarrad Davis belongs in that tier as well.

I like what I've seen from Evans, but haven't seen a lot. Jones is solid, IMO.

Thanks for your thoughts!

i'm far from the first person with this idea, but bring Leary back and move Collins to RT with Green backing up

I'm not sure Collins is better than Free or Green at RT. If he is, I'm all for it. But I'd be surprised if that was the case.

i'm just trying to get by on the cheap, and frankly i like Leary at LG better than Collins
