Ok, here’s a conservative approach that I *think* will be close to what the Cowboys will do. There will be plenty of cap space available, so if you want to get excited over a free agent that we probably won’t add, there’s room. And me not adding said player, doesn’t mean that *I wouldn’t*, it just means that I don’t think the Cowboys would. For all of the free agents, I just include first year cap numbers.

2017 Rolled Over Cap: $8,591,313

Starting Cap Space: $27,710,760

Restructures/Extensions:

Tyron Smith: Adds $7,268,000
Travis Frederick: Adds $7,368,000
Zack Martin: Adds $3,341,000

Total: $45,687,760

Cuts:

Benson Mayowa: Adds $2,275,000
James Hanna: Adds $2,750,000

Total: $50,712,760

Re-sign:

Demarcus Lawrence: Cost $17,521,000 (Franchise Tag)
David Irving: $4,152,000 (First Round Tender)
Anthony Hitchens: $4,000,000
Originally I thought the Colts would be huge suitors for Hitchens, but due to the position change (Colts run a 3-4 at least now) he would need to do, and the uncertainty regarding their structure, I can see him taking an offer here.
Jonathan Cooper: $2,000,000
Alfred Morris: $1,875,000
LP Ladouceur: $1,240,000
Keith Smith: $1,205,000 (I know the lowest tender is $1.9 mil, but I doubt we use that and just sign him to a 1-year deal)
Kyle Wilber: $1,175,000
Joe Looney: $1,000,000
Brian Price: $555,000

Total: $15,989,760

Free Agent Signings:

Pat Sims: $1,200,000
More of a rotational guy, but at 6’2 330, he’s pretty stout. And at age 32, he should be cheap. If the team sees Malik Collins as a 3T, then it's more likely they spend to get on of the better DTs in free agency. But if they believe he can be a solid 1T, expect a rotation guy.
Kony Ealy: $1,133,333
Another cheap signing, who could prove a steal. He was mildly productive in a 4-3, getting 14 sacks in his first 3 years, before ended up on the Jets and playing out of position in a 3-4. Fwiw, we did put a waiver claim in for him as well as show interest when he was drafted.
Eric Winston/Sam Young: $1,000,000
Bargain barrel signing but both guys are more capable than Green. We’ll look to the draft for a long-term fix, but the 34 year old Winston or 30 year old Young, should hold us over.

Total: $12,656,427

So for everyone complaining that I didn’t add “x” player, add who ever you want here or possibly 2 players for a decent amount. Keep in mind that the June 1st savings will be more than enough to sign rookies and carry a good $8 million or so into the season.

June 1st Cuts:
Tyrone Crawford: Saves $6,000,000
Orlando Scandrick: Saves $3,000,000

Total: $21,656,427

Draft (Used NFL.COM Rankings):

19.) Derwin James, SS, Florida State (11th) or Ronnie Harrison, SS, Alabama (16th)
50.) Christian Kirk, WR, Texas A&M (54th) or James Wahington, WR, Oklahoma State (63rd)
91.) Braden Smith, G, Auburn (100th)
118.) Malik Jefferson, OLB, Texas (112th)
138.) Ja’Von Rolland-Jones, DE, Arkansas St. (140th)
139.) Darius Phillips, CB, Western Michigan (159th)
174.) Toby Weathersby, OT, LSU (165th)
176.) DeShon Elliott, S, Texas (178th)
196.) Skyler Phillips, OL, Idaho St. (179th)
237.) Lowell Lotulelei, DT, Utah (230th)

hate the free agency signings....and the bad part is, this is probably the most likely scenario that will happen lol. i dont think we'll be getting hitchens back for 4 mil though. somebody will try to overpay for him because of his position flex.

fwiw, after looking at a NY Jets forum, they are actually high Kony Ealy and probably resign him. He was actually second among DLinemen with 10 passes defensed. He's an UFA, so I'd still make a run at him, but if we're not able to sign him, I'd trade a 2019 conditional pick for Kevin Dodd.

How about we don't resign wilber and morris. You also dont keep green, draft an OT and an OL and sign a FA OT. Most likely we keep green and draft an OT.

there's no reason to cut Green prior to training camp. we save virtually no money, due to the rule of 51 and even if we have no intention of keeping him on the roster, he's a camp body.

I think this is most likely what Dallas will do, and I see mediocrity as usual.

When did I say or suggest we cut green? But I did say we shouldn't keep 3 OT, draft 2 additional OL including another tackle and still sign yet another FA tackle.

So what are you suggesting, we go into training camp with less than 5 OTs?

I’d make a run at Donte Moncrief. With his WR coach now here we might have an in
