Mock Problems

I have seen a ton of mock drafts lately that do not have us taking a corner in round 1. If we come out of round one without a corner I consider the draft a failure, regardless of Pacman. I just can't see us sitting at 22 and 28 and NOT taking a corner. It just makes no sense.

If the top ones are already gone I expect them to try and trade down into the early 2nd for one. No sense reaching, its a deep draft for corners.

We have 3 picks between 22 and 61 right now. If we can get a good RB and a Roy type WR i'm OK with a CB @ #61.

Depends on how fast the top 4 go off the board. If they are all gone by 22, we won't reach for one there and likely go RB. That mean we won't go CB at 28 either. I'm guessing that if don't manage to get one in the first round, we move up higher into the second to secure what we think is the best of the remaining bunch. Bottom line - I'd prefer to get one at 22 also.

I would like to see a CB grabbed in the first round BUT if the Cowboys traded out of round 1, and came up with an early 2nd round pick, I'd have no qualms about choosing say Cason there or even taking Patrick Lee from Auburn at #61.

Sorry, the draft is hardly a failure just because we dont take a CB in round one...you take the best players available and if there's a run between 10-20 on CB's, the best player available at 22 almost assuredly wont be a CB...the draft has alot of round 1-2-3 talent at CB...none of them are super stars and after the first 3 or 4 perhaps, there's 6-8-10 that are all about the same..we dont have a glaring hole at the position, we have a need for a nickel CB that could start down the road, and those dont have to be 1st rd picks

it also makes no sense to take a CB in round one if they trade for Pac Trash...if they trade for him, he's at the very least going to be the nickel CB and its very possible he wins the starting CB job from Henry, moving Henry to nickel DB. A 1st rd CB is hardly going to see the field this yr barring major injuries

Lee's a real major college sleeper and played really well last yr at Auburn...I like him at 61 as well...he also has played the slot CB spot as well as outside, and he has an excellent size/speed combo

Kindly disagree. In todays NFL you need 3 starters and a CB drafted this year maybe the number 1 or 2 CB next year. That being said I dont want them to reach in the first for a CB but I pray one of the top 4/5 is there.

Hey, if he's that old, he has a right to sleep a lot... he shouldn't even be thinking about trying the NFL at that age...

What's he doing still at Auburn, if he's in his 60s?? This suggests that his Wonderlic won't knock anybody out... :D

Sorry, sometimes when I read us throwing around the jargon, I wonder what a non-football fan would think of some of our posts...

What difference does it make as long as you get a good CB?

There are good CB's in other rounds, and there are first round CB's who don't cut it. If the top guys are gone, you shouldn't expect JJ to select one just to do so.

The good thing is that he'll be on Social Security real quick......and that can be adjusted into his contract.........remember, cant make too much money outside SS, before govt takes away the benefits........:

That's what many are not considering. If the Cowboys trade for Jones, then I would just about guarantee you that ANY corner chosen in this draft would end up #4 on the depth charts.

Can you say "Bobby Carpenter?"

That's a very likely scenario.

Maybe we could begin the Henry to FS, Hamlin to SS and Roy to the bench transition.

You don't bench a guy earning the bucks Roy does. It won't happen. They are either traded or cut.

Roy's probably the starting safety for another year.

Henry's gotta tackle better than he did last yr for that to ever happen...to be as big as he is, he doesnt do that very well...especially in the open field...and safeties that cant tackle in the open field= long tds for opposing teams

Watch for him on 3rd downs this year.

I'll give you a hint - look over at the sidelines.

Roy may not be out there on obvious passing downs. But I doubt Henry will be playing safety within that formation.

I agree but it will somewhat depend on our off season CB upgrades.
