Alright, it's not a cadence. It's what this thread is all about. If not in the right place mods please move. I have no problems if you feel this should be in the draft thread.

This year instead of simply doing a Mock draft I have decided (inspiration provided by Biggems) to not only Mock but carry it out to see how I believe it will effect everything we do this offseason including the final 53 we send to battle on game day.

At this point with so much uncertainty regarding the CBA I’m avoiding naming any possible FA signings until we get some clarification or March 11th when we know for sure. It’s very unlikely Dallas becomes big spenders in FA but it’s also just as unlikely Dallas fails to sign anyone.
Next update will ne sometime next week following the Senior Bowl when I’m certain draft boards once again will shuffle.

Remember, this is all for fun. It’s a hypothetical situation. Last year I did a version of this and if you can find it I was lucky enough to name correctly 2 FA signings out of 5 I believed would happen and 2 draft picks out of 11. It was a hard year. My 53 man roster fared much better. I have a poor draft and injuries to thank for that. If more of the draft picks made the roster I would have been sunk.

Enjoy it, bash it, don’t read it, ignore it, play along or whatever your personality is just do what you do because this season is my 2nd most favorite time of the year I’m so going to continue to do it either way!

Good catch. I figured there would be some mistakes, I'll take note for next time I update.

Thanks for the feedback!

Interesting. The only surprise in that list for me is Jason Hatcher not making it to camp. I think he is still a decent situational pass rusher and will earn another chance in camp. Carpenter not making it would be a mild surprise simply because I think he started to come into his own at the end of the season.

Hamlin may very well be a goner even though he played very well once he returned from injury. I don't see Alan Ball as being a SS and I think he will battle Mike Hamlin for the starting FS spot if Ken Hamlin goes. However, I'm not sure we go into next season that inexperienced. If Ken is gone, then I think Watkins stays around just for depth/experience.

Hatcher, Spears and Bowen are all FA's (well alot depends on the CBA) but I dont see all 3 of them coming back. I guess I secretly hope Spears is back and I believe Bowen would be easier to sign then Hatcher and honestly has more upside.

Carpenter started to show up late but I think his time is up.

I feel your concern regarding the FS spot and you may be right about Ball. Either way I believe he will fill a roster spot at either S position but will find time at CB as well.

Brandon Williams is an OLB.

Why would we keep Johnson and Octavien over Bobby?

That was pointed out previously.

As far as Johnson and Octavien over Carpenter. For me it comes down to $$ and time. I just think Carpenter has had his time. He is former #1 draft pick who never developed into what we thought we were getting. It's time to move on.

Thanks man, it was actually pretty fun.

Right now I'm getting used to Cowboyless weekends so just trying to keep my mind busy helps.

Personally I do expect Dallas to give Hurd and offer with Ogltree on the rise and the top 3 pretty much locked on the roster of Austin, Roy Williams and Crayton, Olgtree will be the 4th I think Hurd is the odd man out and it still comes down to money and they may look for a FA around his skill set the can do pr/kr as well

Just my 2 cents on the wr position

I agree 100%

I wish Holliday was a bit taller but he fits that mode of WR/KR/PR which is why I gave him the nod over Hurd.

It all depends on what happens with Spears. I have a feeling that he will be back but it all depends on what his self-value is and what kind of contract he will demand.

My understanding is if there is no CBA he really cant go anywhere if we dont want him too.

I still think this roster needs an LB or two who can actually cover people.

I'd be shocked if Carpenter was gone after his first productive season.
