very good all-purpose back, a nice complement to Murray

Much needed beef up the middle to eat up blockers and let the pass rushers and Sean Lee do their thing.
5(c) - OLB Travis Long - Washington St.
WSU has been bad lately, but Long was a bright spot. The guy brings it. He will provide some much needed LB depth, and may even compete for a starting job opposite Carter. )
5(d) - FB Kyle Juszczyk - Harvard
played TE in college and displayed very good hands, powerful blocker, intelligent
6(a) - TE Michael Williams - Alabama
Knows how to win, very good blocker, good hand
6(b) - CB Micah Hyde - Iowa
I am not too familiar with him, but Iowa does a nice job of sending quality players to the NFL. Plus, he did play well in the all-star game.
7(a) - DL Chris Jones - Bowling Green
Played DT, but can play DE. He was a sack machine in the middle of the line, seems like a Kiffin type of player to me.
7(b) - FS Brandan Bishop - NC St.
Depth at safety, seems to have a nose for the ball
7(c) - OLB Ja'Gared Davis - SMU
This guy is a playmaker. He isn't the most athletic guy around, but he just gets it done. He could be a steal.
7(d) - OT Luke Marquardt - Azusa Pacific
Huge fella, 6'9 312. He is big and athletic, but raw. Still, with his size, I am thinking project OT, goalline receiving threat, and middle defender on FG blocking unit.
7(e) - RB George Winn - Cincinnati
has a running style similar to Doug Martin and is a very good KR.

I agree Cyprien or Rambo would be day 1 starters, I do not agree that Cyprien AND Rambo would be day 1 starters. I don't like the idea of starting a season with 2 rookie safeties (1 sure, but not 2).

That said, I'm not against drafting them both, just starting them both from Day 1. Give one of them a few games then start the other one.

He was dismissed from the 2008 Virginia team for some combination of repeated alcohol and marijuana offenses. I'm not sure what really went on there because Al Groh practiced Parcells' one team, one voice philosophy, but he was kicked out of Oregon State after he got a DUI.

I know you mean first five...........Goodwin, along with Patton were the two best WRs at the Senior Bowl.

He and Harris would make a great tandem on KRs. With his speed and hands, you have to honor him....so you can't cover Goodwin, Dez, Austin/Harris, and Witten. Someone will be open.

Oh, I'm not criticizing the suggested FA pickup. It's just interesting to see his name come up here. It was a huge deal when he committed to Virginia and a huger disappointment when he didn't pan out.

That would be a huge amount of talent added to the roster. There was be some great competition in Training Camp.

I'll just comment on some of the lesser known players.

Perfect fit in the ZBS.

4(c)- OT Terron Armstead - Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Impressive player. Very quick.

5(b) - DT Montori Hughes - Tennessee-Martin
This player is the opposite of what I expected before watching game footage. He is not as strong as I expected, but he is much quicker.

7(d) - OT Luke Marquardt - Azusa Pacific
I've had this player as a good late round pick for a while now. Recently, I noticed that a draft analyst (maybe Russ Lande) has him ranked as a top-200 player.

I know this draft or any like it wont happen....teams dont trade back in every round and add so many extra picks.....still, if something like this did happen.....we could trim a lot of fat off the roster, get young in a hurry, and use the next 2-3 drafts, to get a future franchise QB (someone like Teddy Bridgewater) and finetune the roster for a decent period of 5-8 years of hopeful playoff success.

Of course a huge draft like this would leave us exposed to a huge roster turnover in 4-5 years.

i am not sure....i believe it is always 81 going into camp

If not mistaken, I only had 80 on my preseason list....i accidentally left off Church.


Now as far as my draft.....I know I had a ton of trades.....but my primary goal was to accrue several 7th round picks. I was using those picks to draft potential UDFAs that are coveted. I wanted to make sure we got them and didnt have to roll the dice with the UDFA signing period.

Last year at this time who were you hoping for in the first couple of rounds? I think at this time I was David DeCastro/Brockers/Dre Kirkpatrick and the OG from Midwestern State. No way was Mo on the radar in Feb of 2012.

wow, i would have to go back and look.....but DeCastro and Zeitler were high on my list.

I wanted Mo too, but I didn't really give him much of a thought, as I felt we had no chance in Hades to get him....but he was one of my fave players in the draft.

yeah once Mo was ranked in the top 5 of almost every draft board, i gave up on that pipe dream and focused on DeCastro.....I was totally shocked and pumped to find out we got Mo....

I was not a fan of Brockers at all.....and I guess I was foolish for it. He had a good year.

I was however, very high on Casey Heyward and I was right about him.....If I am not mistaken, he was my 2nd fave CB in the draft.
