Mockage Factoring PacMan

Ok...I am finding every reason to update my mock and this time I have decided to jump the gun and pretend the PacMan has cometh to Dallas!!

So without further adieu:

1a.Branden Albert--With PacMan on board, cb no longer is a priority and I really cooling off drafting a wideout with the first pick, mainly because there are simply too many question marks surrounding all of the top guys. Albert is the best player on the board at this point and replaces Kosier midway through training camp.

1b.James Hardy-- Since I am limiting to myself to one assumption which is the signing if PacMan, I will assume the next biggest need will be addressed through the draft. In a more gambling mood with the second pick and JJ should be going for the player with highest upside which I think would belong to James Hardy if still available. Hardy has all the physical ability to dominate and his character is not nearly as bad as some might suggest.

2.Ray Rice, RB--I don't know if Rice will last this long, but if he does, Dallas will have itself a steal in the second round.

3.Red Bryant--NT is a major need in my opinion because as good as Ratliff performed at the nose, his natural position is end. Bryant is 320lbs, unslefish and can occupy blockers for the linebackers to flow to the ball.

4.Jack Williams, CB--This kid is a great competitor, tough as nails and might be a little cheaper because he played through a bum ankle last year. How does 4.35 speed grab you??

5.Curtis Johnson, OLB--Some might think this is a reach for a guy who played at a tiny school, but I think a kid with his tools who plays with fire is a very good gamble.

6.Fernando Velasco, C/G--Very big center, who can also play some guard. Houck loves big lineman and this guy just adds to his options....can he snap out of the shotgun???

7.T.C Ostrander, QB-I got to watch this guy a couple of times during the year and both times came away feeling he will be a better pro than at Stanford throwing to those stiffs disguised as wideouts.

I never wanna use a 1st round pick on a GUARD!
He doesn't fit our mold anyway since we love the BIG GUYS up front now!

Red Bryant could be our pick in round 2, I don't think he makes it to our pick in round 3, might not even make it to our 2nd rounder.

I like the Hardy Rice picks though, but would PUKE if we picked Albert at #22!

Well, Albert by all accounts will be able to make the transition to OT at some point in his career and right now is a better fit than Kosier in Houck's smash mouth scheme. To me he's a safe bet and will improve the oline... the most important part of any offense....just re-watch the final quarter of the last game of the Cowboys season.

I'm not gonna watch ONE QUARTER of ONE GAME, means nothign, but I know what you mean.
My only problem is he's really not SMASHMOUTH, he's a little under 310 pounds at 6'-6, not really the MAULER type body, and 6'-6 is a little too tall to be playing guard IMO, although you make a good point he could make the move to tackle later on, but I just don't like the pick at all, I like the Big Mauler types, guards who are like 6'-4 330 and tackles 6'-6 335, he's a little too light for my likings.

I am thinking the kid will be 320lbs in no time once Juraszek gets hold of him. Besides, his demenaor is very nasty, so despite not being the 330lbs Larry Allen type I think Albert has a chance to be All-pro at not one , but two positions just like LA.

I'm just worried about his 6'-6 frame at guard is all, Romo isn't a big guy to begin with, and the more KNEE bending you have to do at guard where I'd be a little worried is all, I agree he's a good prospect, but I don't see him adding much weight either.
I wouldn't mind a guy like Sam Baker to replace Columbo next year and eventually take over for Flo, or even get a monster like Jeff Otah to put at R.T. alongside Davis to make up a monster right side of our line.

I just don't think it's plausible for our actual draft, because That's not a WOW factor on offense that Jerry wants, but this is OUR mock for what we want, so I dont' mind you liking him for our pick.

I'd prefer not to go Guard at 22.

Honestly, I'd bet that Pat McQuisten could give Kosier a run for his money at Guard.

After drafting D Free and J Martin last year, I just don't see us taking a Guard with our first pick.

If B Albert is absolutely head and shoulders above all other potential picks, and we can't trade out, I'd say o.k. But I think guys like Stewart could be there, or Phillips, or one of the top 4 CBs.

Free and Marten are BOTH Tackles, so what do they have to do with us taking a GUARD?

Martin also played Guard at BC, and I think they are going to let him compete at Guard for the Cowboys (or at least try to compete for versatility).

I haven't heard anything of the sort, could you provide a link?
Cause all I here is Free being the future L.T. and Marten the future R.T. and have never heard of anyone mentioning him at guard at all!

I'm pretty sure they were looking to get him reps there as well (because he played some Guard at BC). Trust me! ;)

As for future RT, I think McQuisten would probably be our RT if Colombo was out (not to jinx him), with Free our LT.

No problem, I will take your word for it if you heard it, I just never heard it, no big deal, good to know he used to pay guard for some versatility along the line, I like that in my backup lineman.

Well, if McQ is able to play the guard position that I might be less inclined to take Albert. Problem is I am not privied to the coaches' thoughts on personnel and have no clue whether or not McQ has the explosiveness and strength to be a guard in the NFL.
The other problem with these team specific mocks is that you don't see how I feel the draft will play out leading up to the pick. I feel the best three corners, best safety and top three rb's will all be off the board at this point and I am not a big fan of drafting a wideout with the first pick, at least not this wr class. This leaves me with the BPA, and to me that guy would be Albert.
