Mocking the Cowboys Draft: Nine Weeks To Go

It's mock draft time. Every week from now until draft weekend we summarize the latest mock drafts out there. Below you'll find choice quotes on which players some mock drafts like as our No. 1 pick, and also an overview of selected draftniks that have published a mock draft of at least three rounds.

So without further ado, let's take a spin around the Cowboys mock draft world.

(We recommend starting with Raf's mock, you know he knows the deal with the Cowboys)

Bucky Brooks at NFL.com - 2/17/2010

Taylor Mays, S, Southern California. Jerry Jones finds it too difficult to pass on adding a talent like Mays to his defense.

Newsportdraft.com - 2/17/2010

Taylor Mays, S, USC. Mays' NFL draft stock dropped a little bit this year but he has great size at the safety position. Some teams are concerned with his covering skills and how he plays the play action. I think he will be a great player in the NFL and he is one of the top DB's in my 2010 NFL Mock Draft.

Mocking The Draft - 2/16/2010

Mike Iupati, Guard, Idaho: Kyle Kosier is decent at left guard but Iupati would be a huge upgrade. He perfectly fits the Dallas power blocking scheme. Even more importantly, he would add some nastiness to the Cowboys line.

BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1 - 2/16/2010

Mike Iupati, G, Idaho. Iupati makes too much sense here. He's the type of mauling offensive lineman Dallas loves to have up front. The Cowboys need help at the position. It's a perfect match, and I found it highly amusing that the Dallas Morning News reported that the entire Cowboys coaching staff "perked up" when Iupati's name was announced for the Senior Bowl Weigh-Ins.

Newnfldraft.com - 2/15/2010

Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Mizzou. The Cowboys have been good of late and I have them taking a player that is on the rise. Weatherspoon is a good LB who has the potential to play opposite Ware and be a very good player. He could be a much higher pick in this draft if he works out well at the 2010 NFL Draft Combine.

Nepatriotsdraft.com - 2/15/2010

Charles Brown, OT, USC. The Cowboys need to address the tackle position after the debacle against the Vikings. Brown has a chance to make Jerry Jones forget about Flozell.

Fanhouse.com - 2/15/2010

Jared Odrick, DT/DE, Penn St. This pick would likely hinge on Marcus Spears departing Dallas, and if he does, Odrick could fill his spot. The Cowboys could also look at bringing in secondary help, but the value just isn't there at pick no. 27.

Foxsports (Peter Schrager) - 2/11/2010

Vladimir Ducasse, OT/G Massachusetts. Who?! Trust me, nobody will be asking that question by Draft weekend, as the versatile offensive line prospect out of UMass made quite the splash at the Senior Bowl and is quickly moving up draft boards. His versatility is the main reason. At 6’5, 330 pounds, Ducasse can play either tackle positions or in the interior at guard. [...] It’s no secret that the Dallas offensive line needs some young reinforcements. Ducasse, though perhaps not the sexiest choice for Cowboys fans, is a necessary step in the right direction.

NFLdraftblitz.com - 2/11/2010

Earl Thomas, S, Texas. The ‘Boys often expect their Safeties to run with receivers in tight man-to-man coverage and this could be the best Safety in this class at achieving that. Another possibility here is Bruce Campbell, but we’ll stick with the best player on our board. text

Draftcountdown.com - 2/11/2010

Earl Thomas, S, Texas. At first glance the Cowboys don’t appear to have many major, glaring holes on their depth chart. This is especially true after the emergence of Miles Austin at wide receiver. However, the safety position has been a problem in Dallas for years now and it sounds like they intend to make bringing in an upgrade a priority this offseason. Thomas doesn’t have great size but he is very athletic and rangy with a nose for the ball and a real playmaking streak. [...] The Cowboys could definitely be in the market for a blocker such as Idaho's Mike Iupati here as well. [...] As a darkhorse don’t completely rule out a wide receiver either.

This guy obviously doesn't know a thing about the Cowboys.

Maurice Pouncey, C, Florida - Terrible I am not a big fan
Morgan Burnett, FS, Georgia Tech - won't be there
Mike Tepper, OT, California - terrible
Cal Thomas, DT, North Carolina - won't be there
Jacoby Ford, WR, Clemson - won't be there
H. Lawrence, K, Texas - waste a draft pick on a kicker

I like most of his stuff except his draft picking needs work

I would be completely stunned if we go WR at 27.
