What are your morning thoughts?
As I sit here, with 4 hours sleep and a long day ahead of me. Sipping my 1st cup of coffee.

As I look back on it, the D did not play bad at all. They had some bone head moments, could not contain Cam in the 1st half. Penalties, gave up some big plays as usual. But all can be corrected.
They held what is supposed to be a high powered offense to 16 points on their home turf.

I under estimated their defense and over estimated our offense. For the 1st game anyway.

But I also blame Garrett and the coaches for nor playing them in the preseason and not having them better prepared.
Many things should be corrected from the sloppy play. But that could take some time.

Tyron Smith, was this possibly be his worse game he ever played?

I am still not happy that Dak still looked so bad, missed a lot of throws when he was not under pressure.
Though in the 2nd half he started to connect more, especially on that TD drive.

However I think this is going to be an issue for a few more games. I will still be critical of him and Garrett and Linehan. As I have no faith right now they can correct this.
Unless someone wants to try to convince me otherwise.

It was one game, let us see how they look next week. Eli is not as mobile as Cam. D should get some sacks.
Offense, who in the heck knows, they have a lot of work to do.
I am not sure how I still feel for sure overall. But I think this can still be a good team, but I will still get my jabs in at them as needed.

Our defense played well considering the amount of time they had to play. The offense on the other hand was bad. In the first half they couldnt get out of their own way with the penalties and sacks. How many plays got called back because of penalty? That’s coaching. The worrisome aspect was that we have a dominant offensive line, Zeke, Austin, Beasley etc. and Linehan did not take advantage of our supposedly advantages. Sure they played a littlle better in the 2nd half, but the offensive scheme has no creativity when needed. If I was Jerry, I’d be upset. He’s paying all this money to the offensive line and it is a strength yet we can’t seem to take advantage of it. Tyron 2 holding penalties. Collins 2 holding penalties.

Too early to talk about firing Garrett, but Linehan? They need a change there.

Poor game planning. As we struggled running early up the middle, against the strength of their D, we needed to hit Zeke on a screen or short pass on the edge. Later in the game linehan calls these type of plays and it worked much better.

Dak still has no confidence in himself to make tight throws. Still not trusting his receivers I assume they just need more reps.

Yesterday's performance was more of the same from the Cowboys: lack of preparation and creativity and an over-reliance on Zeke. When we couldn't run Zeke, the game was over. The coaches may as well have just quit

Normally, I wouldn't really care too much about one loss. But this performance is likely a predictor of things to come--because we just won't be able to run with this crop of receivers.

The loss is overblown.....carolina looked just as sloppy on offense......if Cam Newton had no running ability we could have won 8-6.....our offense looked awful and alot of that is we run the same plays from 2007 onwards.....it was an ugly game but ive seen worse from better cowboys teams....(2014 thanksgiving & 2016 second game against the giants)

Nowhere else to place blame anymore. All of the potential scapegoats are gone. The receivers took the fall for the offensive struggles last year and the new group they brought in looked even worse.

I saw a lot of offensive creativity yesterday, too bad it was all on the Red Zone channel and Sunday Night Football and none of it came when the Cowboys had the football. This offense is stuck in 1993 with no end in sight.

Defense is legit. Top 10.

The offense performed about as I expected. The O line is Top 5 when healthy because 3 of the 5 are near the top at their positions. When 1 of the 3 are out, they obviously are going to struggle. Their poor performance was exaggerated because they were up against one of the best DL in the NFL.

When you decide to enter the season with no TEs and a handful of mediocre receivers, your passing game is going to be nonexistent and Zeke is going to be stoppable.

The defense faced an offense similar to the Cowboys' offense. A struggling OL, no significant receivers, and a mobile inaccurate QB. We knew that DT and S were weak spots. The unknown aspect of this defense was the LB corps and the CBs. The LBs were tested and failed, the CBs weren't tested at all.

This defense is going to struggle against offenses that are well balanced or have a strong running game as long as either have an OL that is at least average . It's unknown how they will fare against a team that is lopsided towards the passing game.

this makes me laugh.

Well, I did like the TD play from Zeke, that was play I did not expect. And it actually worked.
But agree, this 1993 stuff does not work.

Daks mechanics look worse than they did last year to tell you the truth. His mechanics look like old man McNabbs mechanics in the twilight of his career. I do not know if all he did was work on throwing froma stand still and lifting weights but he looks stiff, his legs do not look right, he likes to lock up that front leg on his throws which causes balls to fall short. He likes throw with the upper body which also effect accuracy because he has to use his whole body like 2nd Baseman to get any velocity.

Dak just plain missed a few throws. Maybe 6 to 8 plays a game makes the difference in a game. Yesterday, was not kind to him.

The Kellen Moore effect?
Or more like ineffectiveness.

Cooper Rush looked as if he regressed, and Dak looks worse. So it has to be Moore.

**This offense is built around the OL. When it struggles, the run game struggles, putting pressure on the passing game.

** What's a bit scary is Giants DL is waaay better than the Panthers.

**No question Dak has my support ( 110% ) but he has to play better. When other parts of the offense are struggling, he can't afford to miss open receivers. You have to take advantage of every positive play you get. Good news is he was much better by the 4th quarter.

**Where's the 'new' team speed?

** Pretty obvious it took a while for the offense to get in sync. Lack of quality playing time during preseason may have a been a factor as others have mentioned. However, they started coming together near the end. Let's hope that carries over to the Giants.

**Not sure what to say about Maher so I won't say anything (lol)

We'll be only as good as our coaching staff!

until the cowboys put in place the people that know how to build a team and how to coach and team and get talent in the correct places this is what u are going to see

Secondary will be tested next week.

Beckham won the matchup vs Ramsey, and they have Engram and Shepherd as well who are good players.

Eli isn't the same Eli from the early 2010's, but if we can't get in his face often he will find someone open.

Offense needs to somehow get their heads out of their collective *****.
