I don't think Byron Jones will be ready to take the reins week one.

Morris Claiborne is the best bet, IMO.

If the defense uses a big Nickel, I could use Corey White or Jones in the slot in that package.

Tyler Patmon is the best slot cornerback on the roster after Orlando Scandrick.

Not sure Patmon is better than White in the slot at this point. I do like Patmon, though. I just feel that White's experience gives him the edge.

You might be right about Jones not being ready, though.

Who knows at this point?

I'm just very happy the team has done such an outstanding job improving the depth at so many positions, including cornerback.

We're going to need all these guys this season.

I hate that Orlando Scandrick went down and appears to be done for the season, but these things happen.

There's still going to be a practice tomorrow.

I posted a tweet earlier where DB coach Jerome Henderson said he still wants to use Corey White and Byron Jones at CB and S.

It looks to me like Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne are now the starters with Tyler Patmon in the slot and White and Jones are utility pieces.

Things will remain fluid.

Will Claiborne continue making strides and can confidence in his surgically repaired knees?

What about Carr?

How much will White and Jones play at safety?

The pass rush needs to come up huge.

Not really. No shortage of bodies in the secondary. Coaches feel good about Carr, Mo, Patmon, White and Byron.

Scandrick started practice with his first interception of training camp, coming down with a Tony Romo pass intended for Terrance Williams. His start to training camp was slowed by a sore right knee that needed to be drained but last week he said he finally felt back to 100 percent. He blamed the soreness on missing the early part of the offseason program while looking to get a re-worked contract. The Cowboys signed him to a one-year extension that included a $3 million signing bonus.

First I've heard about Scandrick needing to get his right knee drained.

It doesn't matter now.
