The Good:
*Romo's improv skills and mobility. I can't help but think he's gonna uncork a 5 int 12 for 37 performance someday but for now he seems to have the Hulk under control.
*Skins had only 17 yards of offense in the 3rd quarter.
*MBIII is a violent runner. He impresses me more each week.
*Romo in two games: about 67% completions, nearly 300 ypg, only (1) turnover. Correct me if I'm wrong.
*How did Dallas not sign Archuleta? A safety that hits big but can't cover, just seems like he'd be a perfect fit.

The Bad:
*This whole game. They're right back where they were two weeks ago. Nobody seems to care. Receivers automatically look for a flag instead of just catching the damn ball. Man that irritates me.
*The defense was uninspired and got the ball shoved down their throat on the opening drive. They did make a heroic goalline stand, but it was too little too late.
*17 of 21 Commander plays in the first half happened in Dallas territory.
*How do you not expect the Randle el pass?
*Can any of the defenders (Henry, Williams, B. James) catch a ball?
*How does Cooley get behind a cornerback?
*The Defense just can't stand prosperity. Let's give the other team a lead of some sort the let the offense play catch-up.

The Ugly:
*This whole game. It bears repeating, this was uninspired play.
*1st offensive play = penalty
*2nd offensive play = safety.
*No pressure on Brunell.
*Is anybody else tired of the Shotgun Draw on 2nd and 3rd and long?
*PENALTIES--153 yards of penalties. That's basically giving the other team 10 points!
*The FG block? Where did that come from?
*Can anybody tackle? Taylor, who should by all rights be serving time right now, looked like LaDainian Tomlinson imitating Barry Sanders going through the Dallas Cowboys.

The Bottom Line
I've said it each week of the season. This is a .500 ballclub. Last week there were signs that people were starting to come out of their shells, but this week it's the SSDD. No emotion, being unprepared, a lackluster performance. Somewhere between 7-9 and 9-7. If they get to the playoffs, they get bounced in the first round if they keep playing as inconsistently as they have so far this year.

Parcells probably sits in his office this morning and wonders how to fix this. If he can, he's a candidate for sainthood. The players have to take responsibility for themselves and act to improve things.

I want our defense to attack more. It's not like we are not giving up big plays already. I'm not sure the results get any worse and maybe things get better. What we are doing now is clearly not working.

The Good:
- Tony Romo, he looks really good out there, a huge improvement over Bledsoe, and only his secodn start. Looks like you guys got a keeper at QB.
- Commanders actually used Randle El for a trick play, our first of the year!
- Mark Brunell looking at more than Santana Moss! Thats a first this year.
- signing of Troy Vincent.

The Bad:
- Cowboys penalties
- Archuleta and Roy Williams in coverage, isn't that always bad.
- Warrick Holdman on the field
- TO dropping passes
- TO Sleeping in the endzone
- TO throwing fit after BP talks to him
- Seeing a pattern there? (3 above)

The UGLY
- Holding call on Christian Furia that negated a 30+yd pass to Brandon lloyd
- Jason Whitten obvioulsy holding , but no flag on TD pass.
- Sean Taylor's textbook tackle on Romo, called roughing passer... is the waist seriously off limits?
- Were the cowboys DB's told to interfer with the wideouts on every pass? not that they did and were not called. all were called, was just a lot!

No leadership on defense. None. Roy is too content and James is not good enough. Ware and Newman let their play speak for them, Fergy is a joker and Henry runs hot and cold. Who on our defense gets everyone else going? Who's screaming to punch someone in the face?

The offense has Romo now, but the defense lacks any identity.

Won't get much more out of him. So, if that is all you expect. Then it was worth it.

Don't every compare Crapuleta to Williams. There are miles apart in skill. Williams has been playing rather well this year. Crapuleta has sucked since he entered the league.

You mean playing bump and run coverage and the pass interference? Your sentence fragmented up and difficult to understand what you are implying.

Ware isn't progressing. He is living on his physical talent. That will only get you so far. He needs to learn the swim technique and use his strength to push off the blocker like the way Reggie White would. Go like he is speed rushing off the end and then drop his left hand under their right shoulder pad and push up and to the right while cutting back inside. (it was Reggie White's best move)

Sentence was rather fragmented and hard to understand, I admit. Seemed as everytime the Skins went deep with a pass the Cowboys CBs were told to interfere with them and dare the refs to throw a flag. Not that there was any PI that was not thrown. I was simply saying that there was a lot of PI calls on the Boys.

How this team doesn't get fired up to play the Commanders, Eagles, or Giants is beyond me but in all 3 games lately we have come out flat and played uninspired football from the coaching staff on down to the STs units.

Tony Romo looks great but our defense continues to give opposing QBs all day to wait for receivers to come open and our DBs either don't look for the ball or can't catch it when it hits them in the hands.

Speaking of hitting people in the hands... How is it that people still consider Terrell Owens an elite WR? The guy has been dropping easy catches his entire career but somehow he was going to be different in Dallas right? I was waiting for one of the players to kick him in his rear when he took that little nap after his TD. What an IDIOT! Where is Randy White when we need him to straighten out self-centered morons like this in the locker room.

I can't complain about the officiating except to say that it was bad all the way around. We got called for some stupid stuff while blatant stuff wasn't flagged at all. That "Personal Foul" call at the end was a killer though as it should have been incidental and only 5 yards which would have made it a 57-yard attempt and we would have gone to OT instead. Of course if Kosier would have really grabbed his facemask and tackled him it wouldn't have been an issue as they would still have been out of FG range. That was just the topper on a horrible day with the officials though. I'm sure Gibbs will be filing a complaint to the league office about all the missed holding calls by Dallas players.

How does a Bill Parcells team continue to be so bad when it comes to penalties? How many times were we in 2nd or 3rd and long due to a stupid penalty? Romo is incredible at getting us out of those positions but that is a tough position to put any QB into let alone a guy making his 2nd start.

Someday I'm hoping to figure out what people see in Mike Zimmer because after watching him coach DBs and the entire defense now for 10+ years I still see nothing to recommend him. We never got close to Brunell with a blitz, just like every week. If pressure isn't brought by Ellis or Ware then it just doesn't happen. I was shocked to see Roy Williams near him on one blitz but he still didn't get to him. Zimmers blitzes seem to be "OK, everybody close your eyes and run straight ahead until you hit something".

At times our defense played pretty well, especially against the run, except for Portis' 38-yard TD scamper, but we put zero pressure on Brunell and he is just the latest QB to have all day to throw. This defense has too much talent to be playing this way.

One last thing, Anthony Henry sucked yesterday, just in case anyone missed it.

Another opportunity thrown away, only 8 more to go.

No, because he is a DB and he is old as dirt. (14th season)

You named them both in the same sentence. It would be like saying Ron Dane in the same sentence as John Riggins.

Well, I know of (4) PI calls in the last two games. (2 against the Panthers and 2 against the Commanders) I didn't get to see all of the game yesterday. I had to leave after the Cowboys scored their first TD.

Nice Post.

Can someone remind me of the benefits we were made to believe of the 3-4 defense? Sorry, I just dont see it; possibly we need a real 3-4 defensive coord? Just my venting.

Troy Vincent isn't exactly Darrell Green.

As for Riggins and Dayne. That is all they had in common. Since you want me to get a grip. I will start calling the Commanders the Ron Dayne of football teams. (I mean it fits right?) :D

Keith Davis' tackle on Clinton Portis.what a flag for a tackle now?
15 yard penalty for a 5 yard infraction?
