Money badly spent

The biggest problems when planning to restock starters for the right side of the line in the draft are:

1. You can't really count on being successful with two rookies at OG and OT beside each other, not even when you use your first two selections on them.

2. Most importantly, there is never a guarantee in the draft that a guy you need will still be there, that someone won't take him early and unexpectedly...then where are you with the OL for the coming year?

You have to have a decent plan in place for a starting OL before the draft...then you can draft quality OL if you want to, but you can't count on getting your starters there....way too big a gamble.

It's all a gamble Wayne... except for the money that is spent. Once the money is committed it's committed.

Given the size of the contracts (so far) for the talent signed (so far) I'm not impressed with the lack of discipline that most teams have shown. AND I don't think it's a coincidence that mostly teams that have sucked the last few years are the ones going goofy over average football talent.

Im sorry but spending lots of money on an OL like Davis when we already have spent lots on Gurode and Adams is a mistake . I say use the first two picks on OLINE like Blaylock first or if we are lucky Brown first then a guy like Grubbs or Sears Or Ugoh in the second depending if we draft a tackle first or second . Then in free agency we concentrate on maybe a free safety linebacker like a Joey Porter or Peek and keep the money for next year. What do you guys think.

Flozell Adams is in the last year of his contract, so the money spent on him is not that big of a concern.
