This defense still scares me and we have Brees and Rodgers staring at us down the road, but kiffin has made some adjustments on the back end of this defense. I will let the experts break down the X's and O's.

I don't think we were ever in a true old style Tampa 2, but I'm seeing more press coverage and recievers being manned up.
Seems to have helped Carr and mo in particular.
It looks like the old man can still coach a bit and of course it helps having marenilli = magic man.
Small sample size but will be interesting to watch going forward.

I think this defense will be very good before all is said and done. Right now we are thin on the defensive line but still managed to shut down McCoy.

I know on at least two occassions, that defense read the screen and blew it up. Philly is good at running the screen and McCoy does well with it. But one play, you could see the screen get set up, somebody screamed "SCREEN!" and everybody reacted to the ball immediately and snuffed out the play.

THAT is not something guys have in them... maybe one or two, but not an entire unit. That credit has to go to coaching, Marinelli and/or Kiffin. It was so awesome to see.

The last two outings have been encouraging especially after seeing rg 3 spread the bears yesterday.
This bunch plays hard. If they make a serviceable unit, this team will be dangerous.
Strong test lie ahead

Allowing our corners to play to their strengths in press man had changed the dynamics of the pass defense.

I thing the secondary is coming around and playing a lot better of late. The press and man to man has really improved their play. However, Foles missed some receivers yesterday and he had a number of dropped balls that could have had an impact on the game.

Playing press man has completely changed the defense and I'm glad our coaching staff had the ability to adjust to our strengths.

The lack of pressure is concerning though, especially if we start using press man as our base. I'm really anxious to see the next few weeks how we adjust to some better QB/WR duo's. Press man is great but lack of pressure on the DL can kill you. If our defense can continue to play like they've played the last few weeks we'll be a legitimate threat in the NFC

Three sacks against the Eagles show that they are getting pressure. Maybe they can get more pressure but they are getting some.

Nate Newton in post game talked about how Kelly had ripped Kiffin in College and said the same thing I said last week. This is Not College!!! lol

During the game they talked about running 2 offenses at the defense during practice, using 15 seconds between snaps to get ready for the fast pace Philly team and it showed sunday as the defense never looked as if they were confused or trying to line up correctly. Instead they were in position and the fast pace offense had no effect at all on the defense.

To be fair, Foles pocket presence was laughable and he held on to the ball far too long on a lot of occasions. Three sacks is nice but it wasn't very representative of our pressure in-game. We stuffed their run/screen game to be sure, but Foles had a lot of time back there too many times. Now I'm not really surprised considering the DL is overachieving in my opinion, but if you give Brees/Rodgers that sort of time and he's going to put up some numbers.

I guess we will have to wait and see. Every game is a game of it's own and they game plan differently for the different opponets. To be Fair Foles was coming off player of the week just last week and was being praised bottom line Dallas shut down the so called high power Kelly offense giving up NO TD on the day. What ever problem philly had was not helped by a Dallas defense that is beat up and taking crap from a lot of critics.

Over on the eagles board last wk there was a thread comparing foles to Tom Brady. Pretty sure nick is in the outhouse after that god awful performance yesterday. He was really really bad

As I said Dallas did not help him out. Yes he missed some targets Dallas also had good coverage for the most part. Celck got open on a play but by and large dallas had very good coverage so it was not all about Foles.

Kiffen showing some Old Dogs can still Hunt.

Well done Monty and Dallas D

Kiffin does not play the games but knows football like the back of his hand. People make issue of age when the fact is that as long as he can put in the time needed to get his team ready then age means nothing. Marve Levy got his team to the SB 4 years in a row while in his 70's he did not play the game but not to old to coach.

Great reference to Levy. Also D LeBeau in Pittsburgh is still going at it , and the late Jim Johnson in Philly kept the Eagles D very competitive for most of his tenure.

The graybeards ( and I am one of them) use their knowledge to get the most out of their players.

Brees yeah, but Rodgers hasn't exactly been very impressive this season.
