this part here isnt really true, at least based on how I remember it.

Jerry Jones, the Cowboys' owner/general manager, said maybe he made a mistake in firing Rob Ryan and hiring Kiffin.

I dont think Jerry ever mentioned Kiffin. I believe there is a difference between saying....
"looking at it now, maybe it was a mistake firing Rob Ryan"
and
"looking at it now maybe it was a mistake firing Rob Ryan and hiring Monte Kiffin".

It just sounds much more harsh when you add Kiffins name into the statement.

Kiffin sounds as addle-brained as Jerry. What a perfect match the two of them.

I mean listen to him...

"You've got to look at yourself as coaches and stuff and I think you always want to win before the bye week," Kiffin said. "You always want to win no matter if you have a bye week or didn't have a bye week. We didn't win and we didn't play very well and we had a nice practice [Wednesday] and we sat down yesterday, Monday, Tuesday and re-evaluated the whole thing as a staff. We looked at some things and we critiqued some things and showed our players some things on how we can get better."

That's very nice grandpa. Do you like the food at the home there? Will we see you for Christmas?

Let's look at this positively. At least he's back to coaching and not doing the daily jumble / crossword like he was in the booth Sunday night.

He's trying to solve our secondary issues with his strategy from bingo.

Did we not have concerns when he was hired after watching his defense get lit up at USC?

USC, a football factory with some of the best recruiting classes in college football, and he couldn't get the job done there either.

I worried when he was hired if it wasn't another case of a legendary name (like Parcells) being hired after the game had passed them by.

So far, that certainly looks to be the case.

Injuries have been a huge factor at various points, but at no time has this defense ever looked close to even being adequate, no matter who they had out there.
