Why isn't this guy being interviewed for DC positions? Marinelli betrayed him but he is still the Master and a HOF coach.

last I heard he was an assistant defensive coach for Jacksonville. He'll be 78 next month, not sure he's up for or interested any longer in the demands that come with being a D-coordinator. Probably still wants to be involved in the NFL but at a lesser capacity. Not sure what you mean by Marinelli betrayed him.....

Didn't Marinelli push Kiffin out in Dallas?

No. Kiffin told the Cowboys that Marinelli should be the D-Coordinator and that he would move into an assistant/consultant role for the team for 1 year because Marinelli had stood by him and done such a great job for so many years. A very rare and great thing that Kiffin did for his friend and for the Cowboys. Anybody that bashes Kiffin's time here is very short sighted.

Didn't Kiffin train Marinelli in Tampa? Didn't Marinelli become a broken man after the 0-16 year with the Lions? How could anyone have possibly thought he could be better than his master and mentor?

Marinelli was 'trained' by numerous coaches not name Kiffin. All coaches are.

Either way, KIFFIN went to the Cowboys and TOLD them to make Marinelli the D-Coordinator and he would serve as a consultant/assistant for the 2014 season as a way to thank his friend for years of loyal service.

As far as being better than his 'master', all I can say is Google the name Bill Peterson. Often times the mentor is nowhere near as good as his pupils.

Having old-age coordinators like Marinelli, Kiffin, Wade, LeBeau, etc. is the way to go! You don't have to worry about losing them to a HC job

I remember this as well.

Mentees surpassing their mentor is pretty routine and documented throughout history.

Obi-wan became more powerful than qui-gon. Than darth Vader became more powerful than obi-wan and possibly yoda.
