Daryl Johnston was a guest Dan Patrick's radio and DirecTV simulcast this morning and the Fox TV analyst had this to say about his former team:

"I'm sold on them because of the comments that come out of the locker room. They're very, very different than they have been in the past and I think that Keith Brooking is one of those free-agent additions in the off-season nobody thinks a whole lot about, but boy has he been important to Dallas throughout the course of this year and everybody is following his lead...I really like the mindset of the guys right now. They know it's going to be hard in Minnesota, but they sound like they're going to be really prepared for it."

And Moose on coach Wade Phillips:

"I think that the Philadelphia game was a pretty important game for Wade Phillips. I just think that Jerry, when he looks at everything, I think he would like to have some continuity and some stability as he moves forward. You don't want to come in and have wholesale changes because I don't know what's put in place. Does Jason Garrett become the new head coach? Does the offense stay the same and the defense get changed a little bit? I don't think that Wade has anything to worry about. Jerry's been pretty vocal about the fact that he's going to stand by Wade."

I think Moose has successfully reached a balance between his duties as a commentator and his loyalty to the Cowboys. He calls it like he sees it, but doesn't give a "homer slant", nor try to over compensate like Tro Aikman has. I don't doubt that Troy loves the Cowboys, but he always goes way overboard to appear fair.

Moose doesn't face the same expectations of his work that Aikman does. The Moose was rather well liked around the NFL during the 90s. Aikman, OTOH, as the Cowboys QB, was much higher profile and the focus of dislike by all anti-Cowboy fans. Same thing happening to Romo. You really don't see too many people hate Witten, but they all seem to hate Romo for some of the dumbest reasons. It's just the pressure the QBs of the Dallas Cowboys face. It's probably the most highly visible position in the NFL. NFL fans may not know the names of most of the NFL QBs but I bet most can name the Dallas Cowboy QB.

that is true but when Moose is doing our games and we score, you can hear it in his voice, he is ecstatic

I always wondered if the cowboys were successful in the playoffs would the real Troy Aikman emerge whether on purpose or on accident.

Of the big 3 right now we've seen Michael Irvin high fiving Jerry, Emmitt doing the same even after apparently wanting to appear unbiased and educated when he'd said we be below .500

Would we ever see Troy Aikman with a smirk on his face if the Cowboys went far enough? I already know we won't see him high fiving Jerry because he has a gig that prevents that... but would Aikman show some love, ala Barry Switzer to OU the day OU got the nod over UT?

That'd would be a glorious day... I doubt many would be mad at him either...
