Moose Johnston on the Petros and Money show LA

I think most of our problems started when we fell down my two scores, .. 17-3.

Prior to that we moved the ball.

But once we fell behind that much, .. to that defense, with that crowd, in that environment, it became increasingly difficult.

If we played on a neutral field, or if we had the lead, things probably turn out differently.
From that point on all the Vikings had to do was keep pouring gas on the fire.

Absolutely. Things went their way that day.

We couldn't find a spark.

It was their day.

We should still try and blame Jerry the GM.

When was the last time we drafted a WR or OL in the first round? How about the 2nd round and hit on one?

It crumbled when Flo went out.

We had issues on Colombo's side prior to Flo's injury but once again Flo's true value is revealed when he isn't on the field.

We got crushed. The consensus here before the game was that we were the superior team.

I think much of that consensus and I was part of it was seeing how the 2 teams had been playing in recent weeks. I do think the week off helped the Vikes out some in terms of getting some players who were dealing with injuries the rest they needed.

Gosh it must have been the lack of a #2 receiver.

If you paid any attention, you would have noticed that once Flozell Adams went Down, Witten had to sub in predominantly as a blocker against Jarred Allen to help out Free. So that effectivey took away the team's second best receiving threat to miles Austin. That allowed Minnesotta to double and bracket Austin.

So Where was Roy Williams? In Another thread you talk about Dallas needing to showcase his skills.

Whatever!

Roy Williams PROVED that he doesn't have the skils to beat single coverage. His opportunity came in the biggest game of carreer and 0 attempts for 0 yards is what he showcased. 0 yards did not happen because he wasn't thrown to; that happened because he NEVER EARNED the right to be thrown to.

But go haead, keep NOT watching the games.

Witten still had 10 catches for 98 yard so he was not just blocking. Free was left out there on several plays where he was working against Allen by himself

Well I guess that must have been true, then.

True, but a large part of Dallas' gameplan, particularly in this game, was to exploit the Vikings backup MLB (since their tema-leader and MLB went down in December with injury) by sending Witten consistently over the middle. The Cowboys had to pull back on that a great deal, and nobdy picked up the slack after Miles Austin was bracketed out of many plays.

The point is that this was the game for Roy Williams to step up and take advantage of single coverage and he could NOT. That's just the FACT! So everybody who still think RW11 is a capable #2 WR are just fooing themselves.

This team has a glaring hole at #2 WR, that's in addition to the depth problems they need to fill quickly along most areas of the OL.

Romo was on the run most of the time thus he took 6 sacks in the game that is not counting how many times he was pressured and just had to get rid of it. I'm not defending RW but the fact is no WR had a great day and much of that was the Vikes were willing to give us alot of the short passed but put enough pressure on to keep Romo from going down field much

Petros is horrible on that show. He's so loud and obnoxious. His voice is like fingernails accross a chalk board.

For most that was pretty obvious watching the game. It really wasn't that difficult to see what was going on. I'm still convinced that given time, Romo could have done some real damage.

The Vikes were scared of that happening too, that's why they put on the full court press with their pass rush, they knew their secondary would not hold up if Romo was back there looking for his 2nd and 3rd options on the play.

They did not want a repeat of what Cutler did to them about 3 weeks ago, he had time and he tore them up for 4 touchdowns.

They used the crowd noise and speed to their advantage. Tip my hat to them and see you next year!

a couple notes....

1) Please EVERYONE stop pointing to guys like Troy or Moose and then use that to defend Garrett. I do not think Garrett was at fault AT ALL but using his buddies comments is pointless.

2) The OL got destroyed obviously. Not one guy, but 2 or 3 of them per play. It was insane. The crowd was super-amped and we just fell apart on the line. Our offense changed totally because we couldn't audible and couldn't execute anything involving sound.

3) We might have had the better team across the board but they clearly won the battle in the trenches. That DL just had us on our heels from the first snap and kept coming. They stunted and shifted and kept us off-balance. Kudos to them for playing so well. Time to move on and we'll see them next year.

I understand that the conditions were sub-optimal, but at least all other WRs who were featured in the passing game were targeted and had some yards/plays. Roy Williams was zero for zero, and I'm not about the buy the argiment that it's because he wasn't featured. Given his regular season woes, and seeing it culminate to zero for zero in the playoffs against another divisional leader, is all the evidence anyone should need to conclude we have a gaping hole at #2 WR. That's all I'm saying.

Completely agree with #1.

#3 isnt entirely true, we moved the ball on them early, they had no answer for Felix on the ground, but the offense did what it does best and thats yards without points.

Jimmy said at halftime WR were getting open. Now if they were getting open why was Romo not able to get them the ball? I think by and large the pressure Romo was getting. I'm not defending RW, yes I like him but as I mentioned in another thread as far as I'm concerned if he is to be a starter he needs to go out and earn it

I'm not one to dog on players, .. my post history can attest to that.

But RW has been here for a yr and a half, if he has something more to offer, it is long past time for him to take it out of his gym bag and throw it up on the table.

We should have seen it by now.

I can't figure out why he is not producing.

I agree with you. I don't expect that Dallas is going to cut and run on RW. I do think he will either step up or will be gone after next season. I know they say he looks great in practice and that is good to hear but if you don't bring it on game day it means nothing. We will see what happens

I'm sorry but are you talking about the loss to Minnesota this past week or the loss to Detroit during the 91 postseason?
