More Concerned with Jones

With all of the talk about how GB will attack Roy, I'm more concerned when GB goes to their spread package and JONES, NOT REEVES is forced to cover. I can't get it out of my head the last time he was forced into action vs a quality WR. He got torched. It's going to be hard to cover him up when they go 4 and 5 wide. This truly is mt biggest concern going into this game. My bad for a misleading title, meant to say Nate Jones.

Well the last time was against Welker and I dont think GB has anyone as good as Welker in the short zone.

Driver is the closest and TNew will have him.

We didn't have Henry then. So Jones won't be on the field like he was against the Pats.

Curious about your sig... Do you still think we're game quitters?

Don't know if you have noticed, but GB goes 4 and 5 wide. Meaning regardless of Henry's status, Jones will have to guard a very good receiver. They Have Driver, Jennings, Jones, Robinson and Martin that is coming on. And last time I checked, Favre is willing to throw it to anyone of them at anytime in that spread formation. If Jones isn't on his game, he is more of a weak link than Roy. As for my Sig, I'm not nearly dead set on that anymore, but I do still see it in someone. I just won't point out who it is.

yeah he will, not as often though, since we'll use alot of the 6DB/1LB look, with 2 of the safeties playing middle coverage

Jones stinks. We need to add at least 1 corner in the offseason, maybe 2.

I'm not so sure, If we start to stuff the run, GB could very well go spread alot more. Forcing Jones on some very good WRs. It's a scary thought.

CBs:

Newman
Henry
Reeves

Ss:

Hamlin
Roy
Watkins

LB:

Burnett

that's what I think we'll be putting on the field alot

not saying Jones is going to be completely absent though

If Tweety is out on the field, he's going to have to do his best and we have no choice but to live with the results.

There are two sides to the ultra spread offense pancake.

Four or five passing targets are hard to cover, but it's also hard to block to a stout pass rush with only five players.

If the Warewolf in one on one, he's going to get to Brett Favre and take a bite out of the media icon.

Doubling the Wolf takes away a receiving option and leaves a big smile on Greg Ellis' face.

Favre will try to dump the ball if he feels pressure, but it's in his nature and the design of the offense to throw the ball down the field.

Down field passes need time to develop, how much time will they have?

Pass happy can become pass sad in 2.3 seconds.

And that goes for both of us.

Are you trying to make me sick or what, LOL? If we go with that lineup vs their 4 WR/1TE set, we're good as dead.

How so? Geez, you guys overrate these Packers WRs. Honestly, I think they'd have as hard a time with our 5 wides as we would with theirs. TO, Crayton, Hurd, Austin, Stanback with Witten and/or Fasano in the mix. They've got two dominant press CBs, weak cover safeties, and not a lot of experience behind them. If KGB is out or hobbled, they'd be worse off than we would be under the same circumstances.

What do you mean how so? Did you see the lineup he posted in regards to how he felt we would matchup with their 4WR?1TE set? He had a LB matched up with a WR. That is dead red for a QB. I don't know any LBs that can cover a WR outside of Ad. Thomas. The problem with your thought process is that we rarely run 4WR sets. I can't remember us doing in more than 3 times this year. GB does it all of the time and it's not overrating WR when each of them has big play capibilty, hence their TD production.

It's still called mismatch DUDE! No matter how you shake it, if they go 4wr and we play 3CB and 2 safety we're toast in a zone. That means a LB has to cover a WR in the underneath zone. Advantage GB!

I guess we'll see...if the pass rush is there we'll be fine...they arnt trotting out 5 HOF WR's on us...you guys are really going off the deep end on alot of this

like I said in another thread, Favre will probably have big numbers and have 25-30 completions on us, the key is limiting the yds after catch and not give up cheap scores...if we do that we'll be fine

wow.

Relax man. We will play that dime look with watkins, williams and hamlin on the field together.

I dont think nate jones sees the field all that much.

Especially since at least 1 of their guys line up wide will be franks or lee, a tight end.

and that dime is built to protect against that, if we get a good push then the ball has to come out quick, and if it comes out quick it will be the quick slant to driver that they love or the quick in/out route to lee/franks which means you would want a safety or linebacker on him because there is no way nate jones is tackling lee/franks in the open field.

Now if we have no pass rush and we sit back in zone, dont worry about jones because favre will be able to name his target, no one on our team will be able to cover their guys without a pass rush. Favre will throw it into the tightest coverages and if he has time he will be deadly.

Oh NOES!!! WE're d00med!!!

Like David said, we're going to play zones. No team, and I mean no team, is going to counter five wides by putting five corners out there and having them all play man-to-man.

I think some of us should take a step back and think about why any team tries to run the ball, or has tight ends, or doesn't throw every single down.

And I'm still curious if you think we're still "game quitters".

What happens whenever they go 4-WR or 5-WR setup? There is minimum protection for QB, it's the chance they take with these formation. You act like we are doomed just because they go 4 or 5 WR setup, if that is the case then all teams would these formation in every play.

Did you know that statistically Favre has had better results with 3-WR formation than 4+ WR formation?
