More playing time for Peerless Price

First off, I am from the Buffalo area and watched Peerless Price for 3 or 4 years. I am not going to say that he is a great receiver worthy of #1 status, but he is a very good complementary #2 receiver. He would make an outstanding #3 receiver from the slot. More importantly, I think he would bring a different element to our offense, and that is speed and explosiveness.

While I am in agreement with most of you and really like Crayton and his great hands, he is not explosive at all and is not a big play threat. We already have a big, possession receiver in Key and when Crayton comes in as the 3rd receiver, the defense is not exactly scared of giving up any big plays. Price has great speed and can turn a simple crossing pattern into a big play. When Price was with Buffalo (and Bledsoe) he was a complementary #2 receiver to Moulds and was great.

While I love Crayton, and he has developed into a good receiver, he is not what this team needs on offense. I think this team needs another receiver with speed to bring in when we go 3 wides. They also should let TNew return punts a little more as well. Crayton has great hands back there but certainly doesn't scare anyone on the punt returns either.

I thought Crayton had decent speed and explosiveness, but I also figured Price would come in and take over the #3 spot pretty quickly. Figured we'd see lots of 3 wide sets with Witten and JJ when Price got the #3 job. I thought that we could run well spread 3 wide with JJ's speed and moves.

Still hoping for Price to make an impact....and x'ing my fingers that this isn't another Morgan experience

You are right on, we need to use Price's explosiveness. Crayton is our other possession receiver, he will take over when Key is done here.

It has been frustrating to me to, how we can stand Price over there on the sidelines and not use his explosiveness. I like Crayton a lot but Price needs to start getting some snaps, not just Crayton's but some of Glenn's and Key's snaps too.

I know that Bledsoe is really anxious to get Price more involved as well. He said exactly that in the post-game comments. He knows first-hand how much more explosive the offense could be with Price in there.

This is not a knock on Crayton, they just bring different qualities to the table.

Welcome to the board. And I thiink you hit it dead on right there. Price is not here to take over Crayton's spot. He's here to add depth and security when Glenn and Key decide to call it quits or move on! Price could be here for a few years if we show him how much we appreciate him, ie. gte him plenty of snaps, and give him a nice contract next year. But you have to wonder who is holding him up! Is he taking too much time learning the plays? or is BP holding him up. either way, when he gets in there, he'll be great. I'd love to see him against philly!!

Once again be careful putting a productive piece for the future on the bench for someone who hasn't had a good year when he wasn't playing opposite to a all pro level WR.
