Same rules as last time, no points off for spelling or grammar
Let's be honest, we would be happy with either Carr or Finnegan as our next CB. Carr is younger, has better size, and can cover in press better than Finnegan. But, Finnegan is a better tackler, blitzer, and much more spirited. When all is said and done, either will be a BIG upgrade over Newman. So, when we sign one of them (I hope), I will not be pissed if it's not Carr. I will just be happy that it's not Newman.
Next, I would take my free agent money and sign Nicks if at all possible. Then, I would draft Decastro in the first. That would lock down 4 of the 5 line positions for at least 3 years and put some continuity on the line. Not to mention several pro bowlers. Couple that with Romo having a minimum of 3 productive years ahead, makes this team a contender year in and year out. With our situation stable at WR and RB (assuming we resign Robinson), it would only leave developing a center and drafting a developmental TE to be set on offense for years.
I feel certain that we will not sign Super Mario as he will cost too much to do all of the things that we need. I just can't justify the expense for the end result. We can sign more proven players such as Nicks, Carr and Robinson if we don't have to take him on financialy. I would take him over Spenser, but I think he will make us pay far more than Spenser. I just feel that we can upgrade more positions if we don't sign him. If we get Church to be a player at safety and Carr or Finnegan at CB, our coverage should be better, therefore making our pass russ better. No need for Super Mario.
If I have any money left, I would get a second tier midlle LB for depth purposes.
So in the draft after the first round, I can target a TE, young CBs and OLs. Maybe a LB if one drops in my lap.
Lastly, this $10m ding to our cap room. I would take the majority next year. I have always been a fan of getting a hamburger now that I would gladly pay for on Tuesday.
