What are you talking about? We ran twice like every other team would in that situation. Oh wait, you're going to say that they weren't the exact runs you would have run. Got it.

What the heck are you talking about?

I don't care what runs we called. I care that we called a stupid pass play that saved a timeout for the Jags and started the sequence of events that lost us the game. A third run, ANY run, including a kneel down likely wins us the game.

What is hard to understand about that for you?

The deep pass on 3rd & 10. It was beyond moronic, it was sub-moronic especially since they had made this same mistake already this year and refused to learn from it.
Gotcha
I get their thinking
A first and game is over
The deep pass wasn’t the call but pressure forced them to take a shot but I get the conservative approach

it is better to lose now and maybe learn anything from this about the coaches and the players before the playoffs. not that i have trust that they can adjust. The offense has no rythm for the last 4 games or so . Cee Dee was the only bright spot and his 100+ yard day is wasted. Dak is slow and trying to recover his mistakes and make things happpen. He is just not clutch, nor a QB that can get you wins when the team is challenged.
Jerry will probably not have his minimum wish of a deep playoff run. It will be a difficult win against tampa , but don't see how we win after that.

Kellen Moore alternates between sheer genius and absolute stupidity play to play.

Dead serious

I 100% would have passed on third down. Clock was not even a factor with over a minute to go. They could easily have gotten into FG range with that much time. So what you are saying is that you just would have given up the ball with that amount of time?

Yeah, no. Try to get the first down EVERY time. The problem is we didn't get it.

I couldn't believe they threw the ball on the last 3rd down in regulation. Even if we didn't get the first (on the ground), they are unable to stop the clock, & kick the tying FG.

I sure hope somebody in the league is dumb enough to offer Moore a HC gig after this season. I'm so ready for him to be gone...

Yeah but if Kearse didn’t decide to take a 8 yard ride out of bounds we would have had a better chance as well.

What bothered me about it is the flip flop nature of it. Either be aggressive coming out on first down to get the conversion and seal the game away, or stick with the conservative clock killing approach the WHOLE way.

Throwing the deep ball on 3rd down detonated both approaches. It ended with neither the aggressive strategy or the defensive strategy, and instead we got the moron strategy.
Your right, it was totally stupid. Outside of Lamb, none of the receivers had a big game and to throw a pass deep to Brown was mind blowing.

On our last drive if you run the ball you force them to use their last timeout. Instead they throw a 5-0 yard bomb to Noah brown lol. Stops the clock for jags.
Exactly. And you only need the ten to get a first down and you ice the game. Jags offense never gets the ball again if you get a first down. Didn't need 50, just get the ten.

What kills me is when these announcers go on and on about the Dallas AC's like they are the tops in their fields, lol. Moore is bipolar and Quinn just got schooled by Pederson

The announcers need to be unbiased. But the way they hype up the Cowboys' coaching staff it makes the other team look better when stuff like today happens.

The fact that I am not surprised at all by the end of this game tells it all.

The first down call running play to Zeke on the last drive of regulation was just stupid, when the other team knows you are going to run and are just crashing the line....just stupid!

The run wasn't so horrible, but the formation was just horrid. Shotgun, WR trips right???? EVERY time that formation was called, they ran the ball between the tackles. So why call that same formation, a formation easy to STUFF the run, when they KNOW you're about to run????? It had no chance of gaining a yard, and it's best outcome was getting back to the LOS. And all you need is a first down to win the game. So, if you have ANY other good play you can run from that formation, that was the time to call it.

Nope, same play, and of course it was stuffed, with all 11 men in the box just waiting for it.

Moore is really, really bad. He really is. He gives us NO CHANCE at a playoff run. This offense has to overcome HIM many games, because the play calling and his playbook are just that bad. Most times, we, as fans, know exactly what's coming, so you KNOW the other team does too. Come on, man!!!!!

We could never trust this team as it's constructed to win a playoff game, when healthy. Now that they're getting beat up and backups have to play, fuhgehdaboutit.

I will say that this team COULD win a road playoff game against the NFC South, but it won't be because of the coaching or the game plan...this team may just be able to outplay the winner of the NFC South.

EVERY OTHER playoff team, whoever they will be, even the Vikings, they'll beat this Cowboys team in the playoff. They'll have better game plans, and will be better prepared.

It's not stupid. You protect the ball and force Jacksonville to burn a timeout. If they would have done that on third down Jacksonville would not have had any timeouts left.

We approached that entire series wrong. A slow developing run play behind the line to molasses Zeke on first down that gets stuffed and puts us behind the chains, then the 2nd down run to Pollard that everyone knows is coming leaving us with 3rd and 10. There was still plenty of time left on the clock, so it was going to be dicey either way, run or pass, but if you are going to pass it, try something a little higher percentage please. Roll Dak out or god forbid run a screen pass. In fact , if you were going to throw it on that series, 2nd down may have been the place do it. What transpired was utter incompetence all around.

I know. That was one of the dumbest calls I've ever seen. We could have:
1. Just run it up the gut and hang onto that ball.
2. Pitch out, and run wide right or wide left, stay in bounds.
3. Ultra-safe short pass, attempt to get the first, but more importantly protect the ball, stay in bounds.
4. QB pump fakes and takes off running, protecting the ball, staying in bounds.

But a bomb all the way down the field for a bunch of yards we don't need? What???????????????????????????

Yep, it was sooo bad. Moore/McCarthy, my goodness, we'll never win any meaningful games with them in January or in the playoffs. MAYBE they could find one victory in the playoffs, against a scrub NFC South team, but against anyone else, nope. No way.

I hate when Moore always tries to play smartest coach in the room, the last series was evidence of this. Instead of running a tradition running play on 1st down, it’s a slang leaving the DE unblocked - makes the tackle -3 yards. At this point the goal of the drive should be to have Jacksonville burn all three timeouts.

I'm not saying not to run the ball there. I agree you have to run it. The run play they picked was just horrible. In crunch time with the game on the linee, come up with something to deceive the D there. There is no way they were going to have anything positive running into the teeth of that D, especially with Zeke. Pollard should have been in and running some plays for him, like they did in overtime as they were marching down the field.
Again, it was a horrible play call by Moore at the most important time.
