I don't think I have ever posted a single thing about Morris Claiborne because I wanted to be as patient and understanding as possible with him but I am tired of it. He is as finesse as they come other than the times he decides he wants to be physical and is flagged on those occasions at least 97.4 percent of the time.
He was the 6th overall pick of the draft and in year 3 a team sees him as the weak link to exploit on 3rd downs.. Let that sink in.. Teams are willing to avoid Bruce Carter, Justin Durant, JJ Wilcox, and Sterling Moore in favor of Claiborne.
Hes can't ever stay "healthy" which isn't his fault but if he is "healthy" enough to be on the field than he needs to be making plays. Thank god the refs made that horrible call on Brandon Lloyd because he got bailed out of another penalty
On top of the fact that he cannot cover, locate the ball in the air (which was his strength in college), or avoid penalties he also does not tackle and looks like hes being blocked by an all pro left guard every time he is being blocked by a receiver.
Please don't confuse this thread with the negative threads about the season being over and Dez's cramping issues meaning he doesn't deserve an extension. I actually thought the Cowboys defense played extremely well today given the circumstances.. McClain was impressive, Mincey looked much better than I anticipated, and Bruce Carter looked like something to be excited about for the first time in over a year.. But with all that said my biggest takeaway from the game was how terrible Morris Claiborne is. I have officially lost all hope that Claiborne will be a #1 CB in this league and find myself wondering if he can hold up as our #3 once Scandrick gets back
I will end this by saying I hope I am wrong because my desire for the Cowboys to turn things around seemingly far outweighs what I am seeing and witnessing with my own two eyes.
