He was on with John Stashour (sp) and I didnt catch all of it unfortunately, but they were talking about the win and what it would mean for Wade being back. Mort said he thinks Wade still has to "win at LEAST one playoff game" to keep his job, and maybe two. Said that he's been told that Jones is not anxious to write anyone a huge check now (ala Cowher, who FOX's John Czarnecki says wants 10 mils a yr to return to coaching) and said even buying out Garrett isnt something he wants to do because of the money.

Also about the game itself, Mort said NFL people around the league do believe the Cowboys are loaded with talent and that last night was more an example of the Cowboys WINNING the game rather than the Saints losing it.

Maybe someone else heard the entire thing.

Last night was one of the few times the Cowboys put together a complete game on offense and defense. Too many times we have a great game by the defense and the offense has a let down. Or vice versa. When we put both phases together, we can beat anyone.

I agree.

But I have to say I really enjoyed the play of the defense last night. The pressure was good. They were dynamic (ie turnovers). And the secondary played very solid.

Imagine that, no breakdowns in the secondary when Hamlin returns. ;)

........excellent point "theogt" and the thing is....it almost slipped away because of Folk. Look, the man is obviously hurt: my God he has the worst follow through I've seen on a kicker in a LONG time. It's like he's chipping at the ball, and only getting about 70% extension. We won't see him again this year IMO: just put him on IR already. I've heard Jason Elam's name bantied about. Joe D' is familiar with him: let's hope it happens SOON

PS: forget Faulk, Hoge and meshawn. The haters can eat it. We proved we can rise up last night, now we have to keep it going. Easier said than done against Wash. and Philly....

PPS: at least Dilfer loves him some Cowboys: whole lotta love.....

I really like listening to Mort. When he retires, ESPN will lose the one and only guy on that entire network who's worth a damn.

Yeah, he's fallen off some the past few years, but for a very long, long time he was the best football guy in the business..and it wasnt even close

Did we not just see Suisham do the exact same thing Folk did last night, which is why he's even available?

Why in the world would the Cowboys sign him?

Yeah, Suisham actually lose two games for them by missing kicks. Not sure you want him to be the guy you rely on with two potentially huge games looming and then possibly a playoff run.

I'd be watching the Saints situation with Carney and that kid they have kicking now. Once Carney is healthy they arnt going to keep both, maybe we can get one of them. I thought I read somewhere yesterday that Carney was getting close to returning.

Exactly. I wonder what Eddie Murray is up to these days? :)

..............ahhhhhhhhh NO to Suisham "Amish". He missed a 23 yarder against the Saints or the Skins would've been the first to beat the saints. He won't even get consideration IMO...................Elam, Mike Nugent and Nick Novak are the rumored participants in a kicking contest this week....
