You just listed, like, 5 insignificant things.

For those that are mathmatically challanged and can't count, i listed 3 things and they are not insignificant. Not practicing does not get you in rhythm with your QB. Not even coming out with the rest of your team or dressing with your team does not promote team chemistry. All of these things are what ruined the last two franchises he was with.

I think TO is gonna be a great WR for us, I just am not giving him the benefit of the doubt anymore because he has done nothing but bring a circus atmosphere to Camp as well as BPs press conferences. (Of course that is the media's problem).

Insignificant? No. Correctible? Yes. Tear the team apart? No.

I just think the guy is a block head and needs someone to straighten him out.

Nope Owens is no Saint...I wish he was. But the fact remains that the Helmet was a complete non-issue...he was asked to wear it by the equipment staff and he did as requested.

Wouldn't it just be easier to acknowledge that you didn't really read what wa written, took something out of context, and made a big deal out of absolutely nothing?

Plenty of people didn't want TO here, but are saving their angst for something that actually matters.

What exactlly was taken out of context? Tell me what I said isn't true.

And what's the deal with TO being the only guy out there with a different helmet. COme on man, at least please pretend that you are a team player.

It had nothing to do with being a team player. It was about getting his equipment ready for Monday Night. Just a little overreaction.

Granted, maybe that was an over reaction but when you add everything else that he has done, it's just another example of not being with the team. It made him stand out yet again. At some point the guy needs to be a team player. And I am not talking just about the helmet, but about things like not coming out with his team. Dressing last. Even knowing full well the spotlight would be on him, he goes out and releases a book that brings more heat on the team in the form of bad press.

Dude, a "My mistake" would have been cool, and painless. It is not an example of not being with the team. It is an example of doing what the team wants him to do - wear the helmet so the equipment guys can adjust it. Maybe you missed that disclaimer, I don't know. Here's another blurb about it from another article

T.O. was the only Cowboys’ player wearing a white helmet with the old Dallas star on his helmet. He stood out until the Cowboys’ Rich Dalrymple told me that Owens missed the practices when his teammates were trying on the throwback helmets that will be used in a couple games this season. “You could see that the chin strap was a little too snug on me,” Owens said.

There is nothing sinister about it. It's a convenient talking point, if looking to bash the guy, but there's nothing special about it.

People looking to bash TO make a big deal out of him missing practice, coming to the practice field last (something Glenn also does, yet no angst....hmmmmm) and wearing a Tour de France outfit - but when they do, nothing is said about all the stuff he has done to endear himself to his teammates. Cookouts. helping the Younger players. Meeting the team at the airport, since he was already in California.

I don't know. Making a big, one-sided deal out of every little thing Owens does just requires too much energy, from my POV. It's not worth it, and there's really nothing to go crazy over yet anyhow.

I don't think Owens is doing much to create a distraction.

Its that people (especially the media) who are looking for a distraction fixate on Owens and comment on (and exaggerate) virtually everything he does.

The Cowboys have a red-headed rookie OT who has a bizarre hair cut (hazing). People think it is sort of funny / bizarre, but don't think much of it.

If Owens were to get a similarly bizarre haircut, it truly would be national news (NFL Network, ESPN television and radio, etc.), and dozens of talking heads would weigh in on "the statement" made by the haircut, how it was a distraction, and so on.

But somewhere along the line, it was decided that Owens "was a story." Anything he does "is a story." A guy gives Owens some personalized floormats and it is "a story." Owens spends some extra time with Hurd, and it is "a story." He sells a house, buys a condo, goes to the grocery store, voices an opinion, wears flip-flps, and it is considered "a story."

Did you even read what it said? TO was not tring to be different or anything sheesh so many ready to jump on any insignifigant thing.

Exactly, that's the type of info that gets blown out of proportion by the media. They'll take that and leave off the part about breaking in the helmet, and then a complete TO bringing down the franchise story will be all over all the stations and papers.

O RLY? Let us count!

You TO apologists are someething.

Any insignificant thing? The guy doesn't practice[A ONE!], he makes a mockery of him not practicing by wearing the Tour De Oxnard Jersey[A TWO!], he releases a book after he signs his contract[A THREE!] and he is the last guy dressed and out of the locker room EVERY SINGLE DAY[A FOUR!].

You say any insignificant thing? OK, Pick whichever one you would feel good about.
And you were moaning about him wearing his throwback helmet (which obviously was to break it in) [A FIVE!]

Jenny, I may not be a smart man, but I know how to count.

Hey Lou Lou. Wearing the bike jersey and not practicing are ONE. And you said Five so by your own count you have a problem with math.

Maybe you have had a finger amputated and that is throwing you off.

I count two insignificant acts: (1) Wearing a cycling jersey, and (2) Not practicing.

You miscounted (by two!). Be a man and admit it.

edit: Also, if you missed it, the fifth was the throwback helmet.

I combined the two as one because it was the point that he was making a mockery of not practicing by wearing it.

You need an education.
BTw, in case you can't read I already said that I could see that as not a problem, however you still can't count unless you have a reading problem.

Either which way, I am not out to slam TO. I just hate that it has been a circus and he has done little to help the situation. I hope he becomes the best WR there is.

Whether you combine them in your head or not, they're two different acts.

Thanks. I get the fact that you think I'm an idiot.

O RLY? You said that before I posted the thing about "5 insignificant acts"? I may be missing something, but I DON'T THINK YOU DID.

Right. I'm looking for a flame war, but you're the one that consistently calls me an idiot and says that I can't count.

1. Wearing a cycling jersey.
2. Not practicing.
3. Wearing a throwback helmet.
4. Writing a book.
5. Last dressed/to practice.

Flame wars begin when people can't admit they're wrong. You've made 2 clear mistakes in this thread and won't admit it.

Ok I have read all of this and quite frankly all of this TO apologist crap is getting on my nerves.

Yes CajunCowboy overreacted to a non-issue and should have just let it drop. But the fact remains that Owens IS the big story here in camp and he has earned that spot. It was inevitable that he would be the big story in camp when we signed him and anyone saying that he should not be or that it is not understandable is just trying to bury their head in the sand and ignore the realities of life.

Owens has been a big story since he began blowing up at coaches and QB's in San Francisco. Then he began whining to the media when HE and His Representative screwed up and didn't take care of business and get his contract voided. Then he whined to the media and filed a crap grievance to get a legitimate trade voided because he wanted to play somewhere else. Of course had he taken care of business he would have had that option...but he didn't. Then he blows up at more coaches and QB's on the new team that he whined and moaned his way on to.

So now here he is on our team and the media and many fans are watching everything he does looking for the beginning of the end. They are looking for the big blow up because history says it will happen. And even though the Helmet was a legitimate action in compliance with the teams request the fact remains that it made him stand out yet again. It is reasonable for people question why he was doing it. The other things he has done like the bicycling outfit was pure and simple showing off and could legitimately be seen as a distraction. His practicing full speed on his own after practices but still not working with the team was also a legitimate cause for concern given his history.

He has been a distraction and a media circus everywhere he has ever been and now people wonder why the media is looking for a story from him? This kind of activity from him and the associated media and fan reaction was to be expected...So you TO apologist need to just get over it because this was INEVITABEL...WAKE UP!!!

That's not exactly true, not in this case anyway. The sportswriter was very clear as to why T.O. was wearing the throwback helmet in practice the other day. It was CajunCowboy that misconstrued the writer's comments and then used that as his platform to voice other issues/concerns that he has with T.O.

In all fairness, it's not just the media that erroneously reports a story concerning Owens. Sometimes we (the fans) get it wrong as well.

They won't get that much good out of one quarter of practice and there are bigger issues at stake. Parcells has to have the respect of his team; he can't just rollover for Owens. And according to Mosley's latest report Bill apparently sees it the same way. Although he will deny that is the reason he is not going to let Owens play on Monday
