They aren’t the most immediate needs but it would be hard to pass on Forbes or Banks if he falls 1 slot. I would be fine with Torrence or McDonald as well if you keep the pick. I’m not a fan of the other’s at 26.

And I won’t be whining whatever they do. Once the draft ends and especially when the season starts, I have a hard time even lurking on this board. I feel like I need to kick the dog after reading the first thread.

After Bijan Robinson goes off the board we should trade down. I have a feeling the board will be totally washed of all my top targets.

It always is. We drafted Micah and there was outrage. Drafted Tyler and the same thing. Who will it be this year ?
No doubt.

Since 2010 Dallas’ first round picks have been:

2010 - Dez Bryant *
2011 - Tyron Smith*
2012 - Morris Claiborne
2013 - Travis Frederick*
2014 - Zack Martin*
2015 - Byron Jones*
2016 - Ezekiel Elliott*
2017 - Taco Charlton
2018 - Leighton Vander Esch*
2019 - no pick
2020 - CeeDee Lamb*
2021 - Micah Parsons*
2022 - Tyler Smith

* = Pro Bowl Invite

  • That is twelve first round picks total.
  • Of those twelve, 9 of them have been to pro bowls. Tyler Smith was a homerun pick and should be in pro bowls, which will make it 10 of 12 first round picks. That means that of the last twelve first round picks, the only players that didn’t make the pro bowl were Mo Claiborne and Taco Charlton. And really, had Jerry not gone off the reservation to draft Mo, they were going to pick Michael Brockers with their first in 2012. That would have left only Taco as a bust.
There were fans that raised hell about Frederick, Martin, Jones, Elliott, Taco, LVE, Lamb, Parsons and Smith. The team killed it on all but one of those and those fans will go on and on about being right about Taco, lol.

The team has absolutely killed it in nearly every first round pick for the last 12 years… so we should all remember that in a couple of weeks when those fans are telling everyone that the Cowboys blew their first round pick and that they are idiots.

Related to that: Today on Good Morning Football on the NFL Network, they asked the hosts which team do they trust to make the right picks in the draft, and the first one said Dallas because they have been getting it right for a long time.

Dallas has been a very good drafting team for years now.

Top picks BPAPN - Wright, Torrence
2nd tier - Cancey, Mayer, Breese
3rd tier - McDonald, Washington, Flowers

I'm looking for the trenches to be addressed, and I'll Mayer, Washington an honorary contributor to the OL.

Immediately didn't like Taco pick. Didn't like Claiborne because the trade up and I just thought it was too rich for him. Lastly, was excited by TFred, but he was a need and they got extra picks so it was ok. Every other pick I was on board. By last year with the Tyler Smith pick I knew to shut up and go look at the tape and just try to see how he fits with the team.

I feel confident we’re going to have a great option fall…I’m just concerned if we make the right decision.
