This isn't the first time we have seen this option. At first, I was dead set against but now I'm not sure. Reasons....

* Moving to the 6th almost guarantees us a top 5 defensive player ( Reese, Styles, Bailely, Downs or Bain ). In other words, the value of the player we get as opposed to what we miss would be much better.

* At 39, several quality players would still be available

I am only making a big move up for Bailey.

6 - Bailey
39 - Rodriguez

I would take this 10 times out of 10 over McCoy / Allen which Mel just mocked.
I was wondering if he would be there at 39.........

Who do you want to get at 6 that you can’t get at 9?

Reese? Sure if he’s there but he won’t be

Bailey? Sure if he’s there and he’s literally the only name worth considering and I still wouldn’t do it and he most likely won’t be there anyways

Styles? I’d rather have downs

Downs? I can most likely get at 9 and if he’s not there at 9 maybe somebody above is and if not I still have other options available

Delane? I can get him at 9

Bain? I can get him at 9

Cost of moving up to 6 makes no sense. Make much more sense to move up to 8 or 9 range.

They have many needs ( I know, so do we ) and this would give them THREE 1st round picks.
If they're looking at OT and WR they're very likely to have someone they still like at 12 and those same positions are likely going to be picked right after 20 before their 24 pick based on team needs.

The reason 6 makes more sense to me is those teams have similar needs on defense and might be less likely to trade out of the player we're going up for, but if they'd do it I think most would be fine with moving there as well if the top defender they want is still available.

I wonder if we would still have to give up 20 to move to 8 or 9........

Trade chart value wise pick 92 is a little under value so maybe straight up in a buyer's market, but I think even then it's probably 92 and a 5th. Unlike the Browns who have a ton of picks this year they might be looking for more volume too considering the cap situations of KC and NO.

it really depends how the draft is going , the short board is basically

Reese
Bailey
Downs
Styles
Bain
Delane

The earlier most of those names come off the board , the higher up the board we need to trade up. But it’s almost certainly not going to be necessary to get up to 6 to get a guy we really want
