Is he serious? Stewart Bradley has "immense talent"????? Perennial pro bowl player"???? WTH?

And while I can understand being concerned with the Dallas OL because of the Adams loss, but "stock down"..."poor season" by Davis? I know he wasnt as good as he was the previous two yrs, but "poor" is a bit over the top.

Good grief, did all Dallas area writers suffer total brain damage the past few days?

Falling

Dallas Cowboys' offensive line: Obviously, there's a big question mark at left tackle with Doug Free taking over for Flozell Adams. Free did an excellent job at right tackle when Marc Colombo went down with a leg injury. But his only experience at left tackle came in an emergency situation against the Vikings in the playoffs. I actually think Free will be a solid left tackle, but it's not going to happen overnight. And no one's talking about the fact that Leonard Davis had a poor season at right guard by his standards. Throw in the fact that Colombo's returning from a serious injury and you have the makings of a shaky offensive line.

Now that Free's starting at left tackle, who's supposed to be the "swing" player who backs up both tackle spots? I posed that question to offensive line coach Hudson Houck recently and he sort of struggled for an answer. Pat McQuistan might be in the mix, but he's never really mastered any position. And Jerry Jones has been throwing out Montrae Holland's name. Good luck with that. There's also the scenario where Davis would move to one of the tackle spots if necessary.

The Cowboys have been incredibly fortunate with injuries the last few years, but they should not count on that trend to continue. Right now, the depth along the offensive line is a major issue.

Rising

Stewart Bradley, Eagles middle linebacker: I'm not sure we truly appreciated Bradley's immense talent until the Eagles were embarrassed in back-to-back games at Cowboys Stadium last season. He's the rare player who can take on enormous blockers and also match speedy tight ends and running backs in space. Bradley was on his way to becoming a perennial Pro Bowl player before his knee injury in last year's training camp. But by all accounts, he's not suffering any lingering affects from ACL surgery.

The late Jim Johnson loved Bradley because he was able to quickly diagnose what opposing teams were trying to accomplish. Defensive coordinator Sean McDermott tried his best to patch together a defense last season, but without Bradley, the Eagles were in trouble from the start. There's a swagger that the former Nebraska player brings to the field. Everyone talks about the Eagles' youth movement, but Bradley's sort of an old soul.

His return should provide a huge boost and he'll make young players such as Moise Fokou feel a lot more comfortable. I know that safety Quintin Mikell felt all alone at times last season. With Bradley on the field, the Eagles' defense gets an automatic upgrade.

I don't know Bradley well enough to comment. Surely the Philly defense was not its usual self last year. Close but no cigar.

Dead time of year where writers are looking under rocks to justify their existance. I don't remember Bradley being the second coming of Ray Lewis. Maybe I need to pay closer attention.

You would be incorrect DB, Bradley is a stud. Big loss last year for them

I am familiar with Bradely and he is a playmaker in the middle. But the eagles really screwed up by dealing McNabb at this point because they had a playoff team. The eagles have down-graded their RB, QB and OL (with Center not fully recovered and collosal collapse of Shawn Andrews)....thats just too much talent out the window and eagles with finish .500 team.

Wrong.

Doug Free also played most of the second half at left tackle against the Seattle Seahawks a few weeks before Marc Colombo's injury.

Dallas sat a healthy Flozell Adams in the third quarter because they wanted to get true game evaluations on Free to find out if what they were seeing in practices would translate.

Matt Mosley is paid to cover the Dallas Cowboys and he shouldn't commit such an oversight.

Yeah, the Bradley guy is a stud in the middle of that defense when healthy.

He can't cover Witten for **** though :)

He's a nice player, but immense talent and perennial pro bowl player comments are WAY over the top exaggerations.

And as fyi, Bradley only had an impact in 1 season, 2008. He barely broke 100tackles. Had 1 pick and 1 interception and 6 passes defensed. Hardly "immense talent" or "perennial pro bowler" type numbers.

Bradley was right on the verge of being one of better interior LBs. It really was devestating injury because he was one of those guys on that defense they couldnt lose and they did. He was probably mr irreplacable on that defense and it showed especially against dallas.

Throw in the fact that Colombo's returning from a serious injury and you have the makings of a shaky offensive line.

Talk about reaching. Come on, the guy breaks his leg in week 8 and is healed enough to get cleared to play January 10th. Yet we're supposed to believe this injury will impact him 6 months later?Yet Bradley's ACL injury will have no impact. Bradley is a hell of a player, but the chances are far greater his injury has an impact this season.

Did he follow the Cowboys in 2008?

I agree with that. Its astonishing at how writers are reaching for anything...because we just cant have a season where dallas is the favorite and things travel in straight line....these guys (media) heads would burst.

Maybe the Dallas media is right about Dallas' OL and stupidity in cutting Flo. After all, they were the same group that said Dallas created a huge, unreplaceable hole at WR when they cut T.O., and a year later....

...oh, wait....

...never mind!

:laugh2:

Last year Mosely was bragging on how the Giants found an excellent corner in the 7th round(Stoney Woodson). They cut him about a week or two later.

I'm having a hard time getting worked up over this. I think the Philly D will be better this year. I'm not writing them off over Kolb.

Didn't they say that last off season also?

It was 35-10 when Free got into the game as the fourth quarter began.

I don't the Cowboys were looking to evaluate Free in a useless situation. It was more like they were getting Flo some rest.

I didn't think Davis was that bad either.

But I know Mosley is just relaying info he's getting from the Cowboys scouting department. They didn't like the season he had at all.
